My self-summary
After 10 years of travel and exploring other places, I came back to Minnesota with a new appreciation. We are so lucky. At this point in life, I can say I am a dedicated yogi (yogini, really), an enthusiastic teacher/student, an unsuccessful vegetarian, a devotee of therapeutic bodywork, and a lover of trees. I appreciate the little things and say thank you a lot.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach English to refugees and recent immigrants, and also teach a therapeutic form of Yoga. This fall I'll be starting a certification to become a Yoga Therapist--ever heard of that? :-) I fell head over heels for Yoga years ago, and can't wait to jump in to deeper study. I also write, go to theater, love my bike, and add avocados to everything. I like to take pictures of green things and draft my friends into doing things they hadn't thought about. I'm on OKC because I'm interested in starting a relationship, but making new friends is great too.
I’m really good at
Helping people relax
Imitating animals
Eating Cheetos
Also eating kale, blueberries, coconut oil and other healthy stuff
I make a great sweet potato pie
Vedic chant
Convincing adults to make silly sounds
Taking mediocre pictures of green things
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Mary Oliver, Michael Ondaatje, Annie Dillard, Patanjali's Yoga Sutra-s, loads of music from the past century, Stephen Colbert, Walt Whitman, Bhagavad Gita, gluten-free treats, chocolate, Masters of Sex, travel narratives, documentaries, lightly salted snap-pea crisps, 25 more random things
Six things I could never do without
Besides the Yoga and the Avo and the tree-hugging, I'd say Vitamin D3, a good lip balm, and hugs from my dad
I spend a lot of time thinking about
being present
food and how it affects the way I think and feel
ways to feel the country in the city
what people need
what deliciousness to cook next
skillful communication
planning my future
happy feet
the perfect mocktail
On a typical Friday night I am
Slowing down, maybe with friends, maybe with a book or TV, maybe in the hot tub and then baking out the week in the sauna.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm willing to admit lots--and it would be more fun to tell you face to face
You should message me if
This sounds interesting, you like taking your time getting to know someone, and you aim to think positive :-).
