My self-summary
About me, eh? Well, I live in the great city of Baltimore, and recently graduated with my masters degree in clinical counseling. I was born and raised in Blacksburg, VA, but have been in this area since 2007.

I'm a bit of a music junkie, and still buy a fair amount of CDs, in addition to vinyl and digital downloads. I also enjoy writing, reading, museums, exploring new areas, video games, and spending time with friends and family. I also love the Orioles, and am a partial season ticket plan holder.

I traveled out of the country for the first time last year, and now I'm hooked. Been to Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Malta, U.K., Denmark, Italy, Vatican City, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia thus far, and I'm already looking into where I want to go next. Always up for hearing about cool places!

I'm a positivist by nature--I always try to look for the best in people, and I believe that people are generally good, and will head towards positive growth when given the right circumstances and opportunities.
What I’m doing with my life
Just finished up my graduate program, as well as my internship as a mental health counselor in an elementary/middle school in west Baltimore. Currently going through the licensure process, and will hopefully be gainfully employed by the end of summer.
I’m really good at
--Listening and being supportive
--Making people laugh
--Starting sentences with "There was a study that found…"
The first things people usually notice about me
Most likely how tall I am. I get a lot of comments on that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: My favorite book is "The Perks of Being A Wallflower." I get something new out of it every time I read it. I read a lot of nonfiction, especially relating to psychology, sociology, history and religion. My favorite author is Anne Lamott, and I also enjoy Willa Cather, David Eddings, Mark Twain, Laura Lippman, Gertrude Stein and Jules Verne. I'm usually reading about six books at once.
TV: Mostly I just watch Orioles games, but I am also a big fan of Conan O'Brien. I don't actually have cable, but I watch shows on Netflix. I'm a sucker for anything superhero related (Arrow, The Flash, Daredevil, Gotham, etc.)
Movies: Anything directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, The Batman Trilogy with Christian Bale, other superhero movies
Music: Some favorite artists at the moment are Greg Laswell, Yoko Ono, Tiger Army, John Lennon, Against Me!, Public Enemy, Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room, Nellie McKay, Passenger, Morrissey, Blondie, Ani DiFranco, Sam Phillips, Derek Webb, Tom Petty, Aimee Mann, Anti-Flag, David Ramirez, The National, The Falls, Beirut, etc.

If it's melancholy singer-songwriter music, I'm probably gonna love it.
Six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
--Really weird things...examples include "Why do we condense the phrase "will not" to "won't" and not "willn't" and "Why are they always pairs of there such a thing as a single scissor?"
--How I can help make the world a little bit better
--What I can do to help create a sense of community, and to stay engaged with all of those who make up this great city, especially those we too often leave behind
On a typical Friday night I am
Most likely either hanging out with a friend or two, or having a quiet night at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
--I one day hope to have a "Lego room" in my house, where I can set up all the Lego sets I had when I was younger, as well as new ones I may purchase.
--When I was a kid I created a super hero team consisting of Corny Man, Hot Dog Man, and Corn Cob. They were pretty damn awesome.
