My self-summary
My self summary goes something like this. I am a delight to be around, yet sometimes caustic, prone for engagement, requires attention but easily amused, been labeled at times medium to high maintenance (but that's just their opinion).

Not much of a TV watcher but a compulsive reader be that in fits and stops, a full-on sun worshiper, which leads in to I'm happiest in flip-flops, addicted to travel and new cultures, drawn to water and being exposed to new things. I'm artistically challenged but I try to play the guitar as contrived as that may be. I enjoy cooking but I am wary of baking for some strange reason - perhaps I like to play with my food?

When it comes to a partner, I think real beauty is in the imperfections, the little quirks that make a person unique.
What I’m doing with my life
Breathing oxygen, putting one foot in front of the other, getting paid to think like a fish, answering lots of silly questions on this website. Scheming on my next travel adventure out of the country. Looking at my canoe and feeling guilty it doesn't get used often enough.
I’m really good at
Keeping a chin up and rolling with whatever life throws at you. Seeing both sides of the story whatever that may be. Making lists and losing them. Being upfront, honest, speaking my mind... I may be good at it but it has a way of making my life a headache at times.
The first things people usually notice about me
Typically my blue eyes and my propensity for banter. Oh, and people seem to think I'm shorter than I actually am... so I have that going for me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books: the Brothers K, Life of Pi, Dune, the God of Small Things, the Monkey Wrench Gang, Fingerprints of the Gods, Blood Meridian

Movies: Arizona Dreams, The Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Dead Man, Drive, Baraka, Looper, Ex Machina. I had to go to see the New Stars, I might go again

Music: I should have bought the t-shirt " I listen to bands that don't even exist yet".

Right now the playlist gravitates often to Ween, Grizzly Bear, Menomena, Run On Sentence, Jose Gonzalez, Radiohead, DeVotchka, Old 97s, old Kings of Leon (just to be a snob about it), and of course some of the classics like Pink Floyd.

Food: Mmmm, I love (most) food, all kinds of food. The word sushi initiates an instant physical craving. Not a fan of eggplant, raw mushrooms make a squeaky scream when I eat them and having planted way way too much kale this summer, the mineral taste is burned in my taste buds and my memory.
The six things I could never do without
-- Coffee
-- Coffee with a little cream and sugar
-- Good books
-- Good conversation
-- Friends
-- Beautiful beaches with warm water
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where to travel next. The news of the day. People watching and creating stories on the circus I see around me. Why dating in this town is so convoluted. Would the world stop if all smartphones stopped working simultaneously. Would Canada accept me and others on the basis of Donald Trump became President (hypothetical).

I can be a deep thinker and now and again 'see' the big picture all at once, but then I forget to blink and people wonder if I'm medicated.
On a typical Friday night I am
A tad restless and wanting to do something social. Decompressing over an adult beverage. Avoiding grocery shopping.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am void of any tattoos thus lacking that conversation starter.
You should message me if
If you're quirky, willing to laugh at yourself (and at me), and enjoy meeting new people. And, well, you'd rather just meet even be it briefly rather than exchange a long litany of emails to pass the time.

You've got more than a quirky impulse to take the exit and disappear traveling for an extended period of time.

Other disclaimers: not much of the religious churchy type, well not at all. What can I say, I grew up non-Mormon inUtah, what a trip that was.
