My self-summary
I'm a recovering hedonist looking for the right balance of pleasure, purpose and intelligent thought in life. Care to join me in that quest?

I am easy going, with a twisted sense of humor. I thoroughly enjoy stimulating conversation, am fascinated by quantum physics and I hate Brussel Sprouts. (Newsflash: I've changed my position on Brussel Sprouts. I will no longer treat them as the redheaded stepchild of the vegetable world.)

I'm fun, intelligent and not very vanilla.

I think it's very difficult to distill your essence into a couple hundred words and I admire people who can.
What I’m doing with my life
When I have some free time I love to walk, explore, read, watch movies, build things, and cook, especially bar-b-que. I think cooking some good food on the grill with some good friends on a beautiful evening is about as good as it gets.
I’m really good at
Cooking, barbequeing, woodcarving, playing Devil's Advocate, storing absolutely useless pieces of knowledge.
The first things people usually notice about me
My remarkable resemblance to George Clooney
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books-I'm always reading The Way Of The Superior Man by David Deida, Skipping Towards Gommorah by Dan Savage currently reading American Savage by Dan Savage, King Leopold's Ghost, War by Sebastion Junger and Desperation by Stephen King, Me Talk Pretty Someday by David Sedaris, The Elegant Universe, The Best American Science Writing series (I love these), Into Thin Air, Under the Banner of Heaven or anything by Jon Krakauer

Food- I love most foods but especially Thai and Sushi

In case you didn't notice I really love movies. Favorite movies in no particular order - (note to reader. This list is sorely in need of an update)Keanu, Moonlight, Arrival, Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Interstellar, Bad Words, Deadpool, A Million Ways to Die in the West, The Hangover 1 & 2, Ted, Inglorious Basterds, The Dark Knight, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, The Professionnal, Inception, The Black Swan, True Grit, The Contender, To Kill A Mockingbird, Up In The Air, Taken, (500) Days of Summer, Change-Up, Michael Clayton, Sideways, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Heat, Mumford, The Departed, The Kingdom, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Patton, Million Dollar Baby, The Invention of Lying, On The Waterfront, American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Best In Show, Contact, Collateral, Master And Commander, The Man Who Wasn't There, The Machinist, American History X, Amadeus, It's a Wonderful Life, No Country For Old Men, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Man On Fire, I Love You Man, The Wrestler, Primer, Spartan, Groundhog Day, Kinsey, Monsoon Wedding, The Station Agent, Brick.

Art - I love art especially folk art. My favorite artist is Grant Wood, I love his landscapes and Death on the Ridge Road is a masterpiece of tension.
Six things I could never do without
My kids, intellectual stimulation, art, something to look forward to, time to myself and a creative outlet.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The meaning of life, the origin of the Universe and what is reality and time. I can't stop thinking about why we are here. Is it just an amazing, lucky string of circumstances that produced us here and now or is there some higher power or consciousness at work? It doesn't make sense that the whole vast universe was created just for us. I want to know the answer.

Harbin Hot Springs. What a remarkable, spiritual, peaceful place. I'm still in mourning.
On a typical Friday night I am
A. Collapsed in a bloody heap. (rarely)
B. Relaxing and looking for a movie that's "just right". (often)
C. Barbecueing something insanely good. (Not often enough)
D. Spending some mutual attraction time with someone fun. (insert your name here)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't snap my fingers and I can't whistle. And I don't really care.
You should message me if
You think science is sexy and want to talk about quantum physics, the nature of time or the multiverse.

You're horribly fascinated by the political theater our government has evolved into and outraged about the level of incompetence, corruption, nepotism, narcissism, deception, outright lying, greed and lack of civility in the White House. (Sorry, it's hard not to rant)

You're at least a little kinky and willing to learn more in the name of fun and pleasure. You're a sub.
