My self-summary
Shameless Russo-, Anglo-, and bibliophile.
History buff. Hitting the gym hard. I want to be stronger; not prettier.
...I find validation through effort, so I work a lot, at a lot of different things. A life of ease ain't for me. I fly to Alaska to see Mom once every couple years, and it never fails to impress me. I belong where the mountains meet the sea.
What I’m doing with my life
Working and learning and playing music and writing.

Studying for an ABO certification that I don't need, but now I'm able to calculate the induced prism caused by a 5mm decentration in a +4.00 diopter lens. Which is the American Dream, right??

Wrong. But I'll be able to squeeze more money out of my employer, which is a damn sight closer to that Dream.
I’m really good at
Lots of shit.
For those who support the theory of multiple intelligence modalities, a quick personal rank:
1) Linguistic
2) Intrapersonal
3) Interpersonal
4) Musical
5) Kinesthetic
6) Mathematical
7) Spatial
8) Naturalistic

In short, I know whether to use "who" or "whom," but I don't know which mushroom to eat, or how to get to the Kroger in Greenfield. Assuming there IS one.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not small, on any axis, and I demand attention.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Punk, Metal, and Americana. Mostly.

Anything with a philosophical or ethical point to make. Bonus points if it's more than 300 years old.

StarTalk w/ Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Penn's Sunday School, Dan Carlin's MOST excellent Hardcore History, Waking Up with Sam Harris, and Matt & Mattingly's Ice Cream Social
Six things I could never do without
An audience
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Optics. Music. Conversations, future and past.
On a typical Friday night I am
According to the letter of the question; probably working.
As to the spirit of the question, the brass ring is drinking and debating a question of value.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I play my cards pretty close to my chest. Sorry, kids.
