My self-summary
Social services and technology stuff, an unrequited passion for dogs, and an affinity for Oakland.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to make the social safety net more accessible, drinking coffee, riding bikes, drinking beer after I've had too much coffee.
I’m really good at
Getting overly excited about minor things. Take the science behind fog, for example — seriously, if you haven't checked it out, it's fascinating.
The first things people usually notice about me
that I'm wildly gesticulating over an IPA making some point about a small matter that's somehow become really important to me in the last 30 seconds.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
George Saunders, Jorge Luis Borges, William T. Vollmann, George Bernard Shaw

The Big Lebowski, absurd 80's comedies

Parks & Rec, West Wing, 30 Rock

Bad punk, good punk, reggaeton, Baroque

Tortas and anything else good (preferably spicy)
Six things I could never do without
My bike
The Union of Dave's Friends, Local 27
The sun
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether the Bay Area is the end of history or I need to flee to New Orleans.
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to stay out past 10pm instead of having a few beers after work and cozying up with some superb (if already-watched) Netflix
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a bit overly into this high-protein Icelandic yogurt (more accurately "skyr") and, I'm 31 damnit, so that's okay.

That, and I think most folks have stuff they're working through all the time (myself included) and we'd all be a lot better off if we just talked about it.
You should message me if
you'd be interested in grabbing a coffee or beer or banh mi in lieu of going ten rounds in the message game.
