My self-summary
OK. So where do I start this narrative. I am currently semi-retired and trying to figure out a way to work between 10-15 hours per week. That should be enough to keep my head in the game and keep me intellectually stimulated. The extra also doesn't hurt.
I sold my home in Marblehead, the place where I lived for 25 years and raised my 3 children. I shared physical custody of them with my ex. I now live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Swampscott, so no more yard work or snow blowing the driveway.
My children have all moved out and they all live out of state. My 2 daughters live in the same city in Virginia so I can see both at the same time and now I also get to see my adorable, rambunctious little granddaughter. My son lives out in California.
I enjoy a wide variety of activities, especially anything on or having to do with the water. I love to travel and recently renewed my passport. I have a passion for listening to life music and especially the blues. However, I enjoy most genres of music with the exception of rap. I enjoy good food and I am a pretty good cook so I can get pretty particular about what I order when I eat out.
I am looking for someone to travel down the road with. Someone who doesn't get hung up with trivial stuff. I want smooth and easy at this stage of life. If anyone out there wants to accompany me then drop me a line and we can proceed from there. You can also join me for my evening walk along the beach, weather permitting.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying to simplify my life and bring more pleasure and joy into it.
I’m really good at
Communicating and listening. I like to think that I have garnered some understanding about the human element during my time on this planet. However, I have also come to realize that I know much less than I thought I did as a young man. There is some wisdom with age and the acknowledgment that there is much more to learn and one must be open to that prospect.
The first things people usually notice about me
I listen to them and hear what they have to say. Also, I have a pretty nice smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like a lot of the old classics we all hated in high school and college. I also enjoy a number of old classic movies. I am a big fan of Humphrey Bogart movies. I enjoy all sorts of food. My only request is that it be well prepared and not fast food variation.
Six things I could never do without
1. My first cup of coffee in the morning.
2. Regular contact with my children.
3. Listening to live music.
4. A good meal with a nice bottle of wine.
5. Sharing special times with my friends and family.
6. Ongoing hope that life will get better for myself and those I care about.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What kind of world my children will have in the future.
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no typical Friday night any more. I am free to do pretty much whatever I choose to do. The key issue is whom do I want to do it with.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I enjoy the company of a woman.
You should message me if
If anything I have written strikes a chord with you and you are interested in meeting a smart, funny guy.
