My self-summary
Well I have a bookshelf, write poetry, drive a Prius, don't watch TV, think football is a macho consumerist nightmare, and will ditch the cell phone when we are together. Voted for Bernie in the primaries and Hillary in the election. It is so wonderful that everyone is free, unless that means being a bigoted Trump supporter, because, hello! a dumpster fire like that should seek help immediately.

My food is usually fresh, and I know how to cook & clean in the kitchen. It is always a joy to create something yummy together while we sip wine, taste and chat. Probably a few of my 9 lives were spent cooking in restaurants on both coasts for 25 years. That extensive experience has given me a love of flavors and the skills to execute a wide array of culinary arts, from basic prep to gourmet plating. Oh damn, now it sounds like a resume. :-)

While spontaneous and/or planned weekends are important, some of our favorite days will be Caturday Saturday &/or Sunday Funday. If you've not experienced the wonder of either, well you are missing out.

As a baby I used to crawl backwards, in kindergarten my writing could be read in a mirror. In high school my style was a liberty-spiked mohawk, chains, leather jackets and combat boots. I once defiantly chose suspension over removal of my "Fuck Apartheid" t-shirt. In short, you will always find me cheering for the underdog because more often than not, that has been me. If you can relate to a guy who is strong but sensitive & sophisticated yet funky, then we should connect. My life is in a place I could have only dreamed of; words like content, secure, stable, chill, spontaneous and fun are good descriptors.
What I’m doing with my life
Educator
I’m really good at
Setting up a decent campsite then hiking or sightseeing all day.

Doing the housework.

Living a happy and healthy lifestyle.
The first things people usually notice about me
OMG it's a Hollywood movie star! Oh wait, nevermind it's just some random dude.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music, all kinds: from punk, funk and blues to soul, hip-hop and reggae. My tastes are constantly evolving, and for fun I enjoy delving into random internet radio stations. Because of that I have been on an odd Marilyn Manson kick lately, too. I didn't realize how much that band rocks until I heard them on one of those random stations. I also enjoy many genres that are more relaxed; Latin, Folk, Americana, Jazz and R&B are good for that.

Writers include Langston Hughes, Kingsolver, ee cummings, Vonnegut, Junot Diaz, Chomsky, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Ta-Nehisi Coates. Recently purchased US Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera's excellent new volume.

Movies:
Oh Brother Where Art Though? Tank Girl, Anchorman, Lincoln, Napoleon Dynamite, LOTR, Whale Rider, Waking Ned Devine.

Documentaries such as Ken Burns' National Parks or Prohibition. Gasland, Exit Through the Gift Shop, 5 Broken Cameras, Precious Knowledge

Food: Preparing and sharing a meal is one of life's underrated & simple pleasures. Local, organic, sustainable? Even better.
The six things I could never do without
1) Love and support from family, friends and colleagues.
2) A sense of purpose & passion
3) Gratitude and service.
4) Laughter & having fun.
5) Quiet hikes up large hills, around luscious meadows, through dense forest to the lake, waterfall, creek or swimming hole.
6) Organic veggies
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to prepare for dinner tonight
It's the end of the world as we know it. Do I feel fine?
On a typical Friday night I am
Who knows? Maybe at home relaxing or out to see the sights.
You should message me if
you understand the gravity of the situation but will navigate with style & panache.
