My self-summary
I'm pretty much your standard starry-eyed, kale-eating, NPR-listening, liberal-intellectual idealist.
What I’m doing with my life
Designing my way to a better world. I'm an art director at an agency that creates participatory campaigns for nonprofits and other progressive organizations. Not something I envisioned for myself when I left undergrad with a degree in literature & philosophy, but it's pretty great.
I’m really good at
Spelling. I could probably kick your ass at spelling. I'm also not too shabby at camping and can cook a mean brisket (but not while camping—at least I haven't attempted it yet). On the flipside, I'm an atrocious bowler but I'll gladly do it anyway.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hopefully my smile, since I'm usually laughing, smirking, or some combination of the two.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite movie is Die Hard...followed closely by Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version). So go figure. I never get tired of Jaws even though I'm convinced it's to blame for my fear of the ocean. And I'm a sucker for anything Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, or Alfred Hitchcock.

Books I could read over and over and over again: The Great Gatsby, Cloud Atlas, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information; Books I've read recently and am still thinking about: The Circle, Blindness; Books I'm perpetually only halfway through: House of Mirth

Favorite food...all of them? In a car-ride game of, "If you could eat just one food for the rest of your life (and, yes, it would magically satisfy all your nutritional needs)" I recently answered peach pie. But I concede there may be flaws with that choice.

Definitely "music that can be listened to outdoors for free" tops the list. Beyond that, it sort of veers wildly between soul, bluegrass, and classic punk.

Shows are probably unsurprising: Orange is the New Black, The Walking Dead, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie, and Mad Men (RIP).
The six things I could never do without
Friends (cliche and obvious, but true)
A decent burger
A good beer (preferably alongside the burger)
The Sunday New York Times
A well-worn pair of jeans
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Just about everything. And pretty opinionated about some of it, but very curious and up for a healthy debate on the rest.
You should message me if
You're interesting and smart and thoughtful and engaged in what's going on in the world...but also goofy and warm and able to enjoy the simple stuff.
