My self-summary
Hello, my name is Brak…

I’m a Texas native, but have been living like a nomad for the past few years. Between being a healthcare refugee and attending school in different states, I've put a lot of miles on my hamster-car.

Based on past reactions, I don’t think I am who people expect me to be. Many have described me as odd, goofy, strange, weird, or bizarre. I don’t think I’m that unusual, but I’ll let you be the judge. Initially, I can be very quiet and socially awkward, but underneath that external reserve I am no shrinking violet.

I’m a biology nerd, love literature, exercise fanatic, and extensive food allergies have made me a pretty darn good cook, but animals are my true passion.

Where do you fit into all this? Well, I’m not in the market for a soulmate, so we don’t have to be a perfect match. I’m looking for people who know how to carry on a decent conversation and who want to share experiences with me as friends. Can you show me where the good hiking trails are? Take me to a martial arts or yoga class? Want to spend a night in cuddling on the couch under the thrall of the glowbox (once we know each other reasonably well, of course)? Make some elaborate kitchen messes- and possibly something edible? Go out to a museum, zoo, or aquarium? I’m sure there’s lots more. What are you interested in or passionate about? What do you want to try?

Also, I’ve been climbing for a few years, but I’d like to go from “enthusiastic” to “obnoxious” so I’m always on the lookout for mentors who can get me there... or just anyone willing to belay (I’m kind of a climbslut truth be told).
What I’m doing with my life
Recently got into vet school. I’ve had a lifelong interest in managing feral animal populations- started doing TNR (trap-neuter-return) when I was 10- and I’d like to expand that to an international level.
I’m really good at
perfecting the art of passing through
The first things people usually notice about me
i'm unbelievably shy and unbearably quiet
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
there are a lot of book-friends. discussing them would be a whole conversation in itself.

i try to avoid the glowbox.

different sounds are good for different activities. but never country. country music is never good.

food is awesome when it doesn't hurt me
Six things I could never do without
1. chapstick
2. the sky
3. books
4. toothbrush
5. friends
6. whiteboard
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how long until we have teleportation? what kind of cool things can i do with oatmeal? are there any animals left to discover? when will i be able to breathe again? what sort of adaptive radiation will humans experience once we've wiped out all the other creatures? where can i meet cops? why are horses so important? what's it like being an ant? what is time? why do low calorie diets prolong life? how do i winter? can we resurrect kafka? where's my robot body?
On a typical Friday night I am
waiting for the social bunny to drop by
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i have very limited spoons
You should message me if can think of something to say. if you are having trouble getting started, try telling me what we have in common or asking me about a part of my profile that interested you. throw in a question so i have something to respond to. but take note: respect goes a long way with me. be nice, okay?
