My self-summary
A native texan with equal parts city and country. I think of myself as unclassifiable. I'm incredibly creative and love to stay busy. I'm mostly a morning person, but do indulge in the night. I love laughing more than anything. I've often been told I'm a great teacher and a "Jill" of all trades. I learn pretty quickly and a lot of things come naturally. Sometimes I can be messy. I can work too much. Work hard play hard right? I stay aware of what my body is doing. I like to live fairly simple but fill my life with friends, fun, music, laughter, good food and someone special.
What I’m doing with my life
I have 2 awesome jobs that I absolutely love. I work for an upholstery shop. The owner is a bad ass and a wonderful human being. And I work in the costume shop at Zach Scott Theatre. I'm over the moon for our new theatre and enjoy the people I work with. In addition, I value the work. Win win win!
I also make clothes, on the side, from my apartment. I try to do as much of that as I can but bills are first. I've recently become obsessed with art/graffiti/fabric installations (that's a broad description I know) I'd like to make large panels of fabric with words and pictures on them and hang them around town. I did one at ACL last year and a few in the works.
Mixed in all all of that I play the Autoharp and have a little band with my pal Steve.
I’m really good at
Baking, cooking, painting, sewing, building things, singing, shopping, lounging, improv soft shoe, making lists, procrastinating, listening.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have what they call " stage presence" :).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Celestine Prophecy, The Bell Jar, Ishmael, Power of Now(changed my life) Biographies, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, John Lennon. As much as I love to laugh, I think I like my books a little more serious. I don't have a TV but shows that I' ve watched and love are Always Sunny, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Project Runway, True Blood, Ellen.....I like tv but I'm glad I don't have one.
Movies? Okay, I'll do the "5 movies on a deserted island" thing.
Pretty Woman, Almost Famous, I Heart Huckabees, Back to the Future 2, Scarface. Music...aaahhh..this is a little tricky. The way I really feel is that I am a lover of just about anything. I personally don't care for hardcore tejano or punk and metal. However, let me say that I do recognize it's place in our culture. Some of my tops: All the oldies, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Led Zeppelin, Stones, then you got 2pac, TLC, Michael Jackson, Counting Crows, Dixie Chicks, Brett Dennen, Joanna Newsom, Cat Power, Ani DiFranco, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Tilly and the Wall, Adele, Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson, RADIOHEAD. Dang! This is the only list that I can't finish. I could go and on in any of these categories.
Six things I could never do without
Water, food, vision, my hands, my autoharp, and company.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What my next move is. How simply complicated life is. Projects I want to do. What I would do with a billion dollars.
On a typical Friday night I am
Staying in to chill or out with friends. Movies, shows , drinks etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I secretly think it would be awesome to get a ''shot in the dark'' in the Chronicle or a missed connection equivalent.
You should message me if
You think we could do something fun, have a good time and interesting conversation. I'm looking for someone that inspires me.
