My name's Bryan, I'm 27 and I live/work in downtown Toronto. In a nutshell, I'd say I'm a positive romantic. My thoughts are constantly up in the clouds, pre-occupied with future possibilities about meeting/settling/being with the right person. I just love love, the very idea/essence of it and mutually experiencing that intensity/passion with someone I truly care about. That, to me, is what life's all about. Having a good time on this planet and sharing that experience with someone you really care about. Why else would I be on this site? It's not for random hook-ups, I'll just say that now. I really want to get to know and find the right person.
Anyway, I was born in the Philippines, moved to Toronto when I was about 18 months old and lived here for most of my elementary school years. I've also lived in chilly-ass Ottawa and in the US (in Allentown, Pennsylvania) at various points in my life. So I have quite a wide breadth of worldly experience, but I'm a Toronto guy through and through. I came back here for University to learn/settle because I honestly love this amazing city, and there's nowhere I'd rather be. (if only our sports teams were decent and it couldn't hurt if it was warmer!!!)
Otherwise, I'd consider myself positive/thoughtful/selfless/kind/empathetic, adorkably clumsy, with an incredibly sarcastic sense of humor, all the while being relaxed, humble, genuine, fun/spontaneous and lovingly loyal. I'm also pretty family-oriented and boy, do I have a large one. They're important to me. I might seem pretty sociable, but I can be painfully shy/awkward around strangers and being self-aware to recognize those issues doesn't help things.
I'm really someone that prefers to converse/interact one-on-one with a person or a small group. And I suppose I can be pretty intense when I'm getting to know someone. It can get personal pretty quickly.
And I suppose I'm intelligent enough about certain things. I'm an able conversationalist/communicator and I guess I can write stuffz gud I guez, but I'm hardly an all-around genius. Anything involving major math or science honestly sends me into a real tizzy. No Thanks!
As far as going out, I'm pretty much down for doing anything and going anywhere, especially if it's with good people. Personally, I simply see life as an adventure and I'm all about living that up to the fullest, while I'm still here. I'll go to the beach, watch the Leafs/Raptors/Jays play, browse museums/galleries, attend concerts, watch movies, go hiking/biking/exploring, try out new restaurants or hop on over to the nearest bar/club/lounge or whatever. I just wanna get out there and see/experience it all.
That being said, I'm just as comfortable cuddling up in bed all day, either sleeping, getting on netflix/catching up on shows or movies, gaming, or just enjoying quietly someone's company.
Concerning hobbies/interests, I'm 1000000% a news junkie and I relish devouring new information and I love constantly learning new things about this exciting world, from ongoing strife and troubles overseas to the lurid, dirty tidbits on TMZ. I honestly loves it all. It's such a rush and I don't think I'll ever be completely satiated.
I also love watching/playing sports. You name it, I'll watch it. Everything from the Major Four in North America (MLB/NHL/NFL/NBA) to all the soccer leagues around the globe to F1/Nascar to Tennis/Golf, Cricket/Rugby, just anything.
In particular, though, I have strong affections for my Leafs/Raps/Jays as well as Manchester United and the Philadelphia Eagles. As you can see I root for a lot of crummy teams, so I'm well-used to sporting heartbreak. I'm a sports masochist I guess.
And sports are honestly a big part of who I am, though it's not everything. I also play my fair share of vidya games, and though I prefer sports titles and open-world stuff like Fallout/Elder Scrolls/GTA, I'm open to playing anything.
And when I'm not doing any of those things, I'm either working out/reading/working or sleeping. It's not too complicated.
Think that's basically it, but if there's something else you want to know, feel free to shoot me a msg =)
So I currently work overnight at Hollister, (yeah, that dark, scary place in the mall) where I fix up the messed up closets/tables of clothes, making certain they're straight and pretty looking for the next shopping day. It's a fun, chill and easy job for now, but I'm thinking of soon going back to school for something else (perhaps nursing or social work) we'll just have to see.
For now, I'm content with having a good time and looking for that right partner to experience life with.
- Having a great time and getting others to loosen up and have a good time too.
- Being an avid procrastinator
- Proudly repping my Toronto sports teams! No, I'm not a Heat/Yankee/Pens fan of whatever bandwagon people wanna hitch themselves onto. I rides and dies with my (not-so) lovable losers. =)
- Really connecting with people on a 1-on-1 basis
- Listening to a person's problems/empathizing with them, while (hopefully) dispensing sound advice and being there for my friends, family when they need someone to talk with.
I honestly do most of my reading online nowadays anyway. Sites such Longreads.com are a godsend and various forums give me more than enough material. I'll oftentimes get sucked into those wikipedia/TVTropes holes, where I binge on info, open up way, way too many tabs on my browser and I won't emerge for a few hours.
But if I gotta list'em out, I guess I read a lot more fictiony-type stuff when I was younger. Specifically John Grisham/Chuck Palahniuk, especially Survivor. And now I prefer non-fiction stuff that delves deeply into a specific topic, such as Game Change (and now Double Down!) or Moneyball, or anything by David Simon, Gladwell, Jane Jacobs, Studs Terrell, Barbara Ehrenreich, and plenty others like them. I suppose I find the real world a much more interesting place than anything fantastical or sci-fi.
Movies: Honestly, I'll watch anything. I love everything from gory horror/suspenseful thrillers to the cheesiest romcoms/bro-est action flicks and sophisticated/abstract foreign movies. Also absolutely love documentaries.
And honestly, aside from music, I don't really like re-reading/re-watching/re-living my media, there's just so much out there to experience for the first time.
But I do love The Shawshank Redemption, Hoop Dreams, Children of Men, Drive, American Psycho, Friday, The Good/The Bad/The Ugly, The 'Before' Trilogy (Before Sunrise is my favs), Clockwork Orange/2001, City of God, Fight Club, Scarface, The General, The Little Dictator, Up (or at least the first ten minutes), The Incredibles, (okay just most Pixar, period) Noroi: the Curse, Rec, Oldboy, Battle Royale (though I liked the book better) Eternal Sunshine, Moonrise Kingdom, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Gravity, Cabin In the Woods, Double Indemnity, Unbreakable, The Raid: Redemption, Almost any Tony Jaa movie, Dancer in The Dark, and I'm probably forgetting about a billion more flicks that I love.
Shows: Parks and Rec, How I Met Your Mother, The Wire, Arrested Development, Chappelle's Show, The Boondocks, Fresh Prince, Eastbound & Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, The Simpsons (S1-12 which I've memorized to an astonishingly sick degree, American Dad, Futurama, South Park (S5-8), Bob's Burgers, Community, Conan (he's my hero), The Daily Show/Colbert Report, Craig Ferguson, SNL, Lost, Fringe, Frontline, Mythbusters/How It's Made, Intervention, Reliable Sources.
Overall, I just love funny, positive (and possibly informative) shows most of all. Sci-fi/Reality/competitiony-type stuff doesn't interest me, though I guess I'll plop down and watch some of it if I were just channel-surfing and nothing else was on. (but who has time for that when sports are on!)
Music: Mainly into Hip-Hop/R&B (Nas/Kanye/Jay Z/Biggie/Lupe/Kendrick in particular) though I do love quite an eclectic mix of stuff. Everything from the Bee Gees/Phil Collins/Elton John to the likes of Whitney/Mariah/TLC and N'sync (I'm a huge JT fan)/BSB/Britney and all that awesome late 90s pop. Also my slow jamz, Summer Jams, Queen, and you know, of course the Beatles, and motown soul stuff like Marvin Gaye.
Food: Chicken anything, steak, ham/bacon, scrambled eggs, Waffles, Vanilla Dip Donuts, Cantonese Chow Mein, French Fries, Orange Smoothies, Goldfish crackers, Orbit Gum, Pringles.
Overall, I'll honestly try anything out at least once, but I on a day-to-day basis, I can be a pretty picky eater. I likes what I like! *Kanye Shrug*
- The awesomely warm and comfy bed in which I rest. I loooooove my sleep. Being warmly wrapped up, cocoon-style, on a nice and lazy Sunday morning might be one of my favorite experiences in life.
- My Glasses! I'd be lost, blind and hopeless without them.
- My Nexus 4 and iPod Touch. Never leave home without either.
- Delicious food and refreshing dranks
- The Internets, without which I'd never be able to potentially meet all you fine, wonderful people.
Is that more than six? Bleh, whatever!
One Friday night I'll be working, another I'll be out drankin with friends or attending some sports event and another I'll just stay in and settle down with delicious food and an engaging read.
And I'll be honest, all I'm looking for is simple. Basically, a good relationship, to me, is being good/great (or optimally) best friends with a girl you've gotten to know well/you're attracted to/just wanna get freaky with on the reg. The entire package. And while there's no guarantees on the latter part of that statement (though that's the goal), even just the prospect of meeting new friends would be awesome.
Anyway, I'd love to hear from you (you, as in you, the spectacular person who bothered to read through any of this). I promise, we'll probably have a wonderfully fantastic time together. =)
