I have an upcoming wedding where I'm the best man and I could really use someone to laugh extra loud during my speech.
"Sucking at something is the first step to becoming sorta good at something"
Yep, I'm the sort of adult who bases his life philosophy around a quote from a cartoon.
With that in mind I'm someone that tends to throw himself at almost any activity, regardless of my actual initial skill.
As long as I'm trying something new or different and doing it with quality people I'm generally pretty happy.
When I'm not deep in thought I'm usually drinking good beer, climbing, being with friends, running a local meetup group, exploring Dallas and just enjoying life.
If I was a super hero I would be The Empath, and I would go around relating to other people. Also I would finally get to wear my underwear outside my clothes.
My gregarious nature is a close second. And yes, I'm proud I got to throw out the word gregarious.
Movies: Generally will watch anything, from dumb blockbusters (Fast and the Furious series is amazing) to artsy movies and docs. I enjoy going to the local theaters, like the Alamo Drafthouse, Texas Theater or Angelika. I definately have a soft spot for animated films and will go on lengths as to why Gaston is the true hero of Beauty and the Beast.
Books: This year my goal has been to read at least one book from a diverse author. Anything that helps me gain insight into a perspective other than mine. So far the stand out are the Wonderful Life of Oscar Wao and The Book of Joan. Next up is That Home that Was Our Country.
Shows: Smart, funny and silly is my favorite combination in a show (and in a SO too) so I love Parks and Rec, Good Place, BB99, Bob's Burgers, etc. All time favorite is Simpsons though. I can recite way too many lines from that show, yet have trouble remembering how to do algebra. American Gods is my new obsession.
Music: My musical taste is something my friend's mock, as I tend to have the taste of 16 year old girl. Pop, light rock is my go to music, though I also like some harder stuff. Ska has never gone out of style for me and you'll often find me jamming to the horns in my car.
Podcasts are also pretty big for me. My Brother, My Brother and Me, Car Talk, This American Life (really most of NPR offering), Doug loves movies, Smodcast, Giantbombcast...I listen to a fair share of them and always up for recommendations.
2)Shoes other than my work shoes
3)An interesting board game
4)A good stout beer
5)Some good outdoor time
Also if you are of the thought that a conversation is 50/50. I honestly hate feeling like I'm doing all the work in a convo.
