My self-summary
Right now I'm living in SE Portland, growing a small garden, making new food items, trying to learn about other people, biking places, and training/teaching martial arts.

I'm close with my family, and consider a number of people to be my best friend. I tend to hang out with people who work in the service industry, are educators, and are passionate about something. What are you passionate about?

What I’m doing with my life
I am a professional knife sharpener at a boutique knife store. It affords me the chance to work with my hands, talk food with Portland's many talented cooks and chefs, and I get to educate people about owning and caring for good kitchen knives, which is something I've been doing for a long time anyway, but now I get paid to do it.

Other than my job, I am a martial artist. I've been training most of my life and plan to do so until the end. Kicking, punching, and grappling with someone is probably one of the better ways to get to know them. Our school is just a collection of goofs getting together to have some fun.

I went to school as an art major, and this has greatly influenced me to be creative and work with my hands.
I’m really good at
Shaking that ass.

Crying freely while slicing shallots thinner than you've ever seen.

Laughing, seemingly at random, into a quiet room and having to explain what just passed through my head. (Likely the word "butts")

Shaking that ass, but in a silly way.

Getting punched in the face. (In a fun way)
The first things people usually notice about me
Sitting next to you on a bench, I'm taller. Standing next to you, I'm likely shorter.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read nerd books: Neal Stephenson, Lois McMaster Bujold, Tolkien, encyclopedias, etc. I learned to read with Tintin comic books.

Webcomics are pretty cool. Some I like are Bad Machinery/Scary Go Round by John Allison, Nimona by Noelle Stevenson, anything by KC Green, Hark a Vagrant by Kate Beaton, and Camp Weedonwantcha by Katie Rice

Favorite movies: Tampopo, A Taste of Tea, Seven Samurai, Drunken Master, Royal Tenenbaums, Studio Ghibli joints, Akira Kurosawa, Wes Anderson, Lau Kar Leung and on and on

TV: Anything David Attenborough, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Adventure Time, Star Trek (various series)

Music: SZA (for real, check her out), Madlib, J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Digable Planets, Cibo Matto, Talkdemonic, De La Soul, Fela Kuti, Marvin Gaye. Funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz.

I am a food fiend. I love all foodstuffs. Except the things I don't like. Those things are gross. Notably I enjoy: noodles/pasta, rice, veggies, charcuterie, low and slow cooked meats, and raw fruit. I enjoy cooking Japanese, Chinese, French, and Italian. I've recently been obsessed with Southeast Asian cuisine, notably Vietnamese.
Six things I could never do without
my chef's knife
my bicycle
my community
a pinch of salt
enjoyable music
cool glasses of water
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Food, friends, sex, more food.

Food sex with friends?
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my pals, having a beer, and eating good food. Ideally. Maybe some ping pong.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Scary movies scare me.
You should message me if
-You don't take yourself too seriously, but can back up your convictions.

-If you think I'm cute. (everyone likes to find out they're cute)
