-My daily reads are a reflection of my personality and interests: ESPN and Bleacher Report, CNN and the Wall Street Journal, but also IGN, GigaOm and TechCrunch to feed my inner closet nerd :)
-California boy at heart, but definitely happy to have lived in New York (college), Japan (Army), and London (grad school). I’m new and still discovering Seattle! What am I missing so far?
Career aspirations: well, since my childhood dream of becoming an astronaut was snuffed out by reality (damn those super amazing people and my infatuation with having fun instead of studying sciences), I'm now working at Microsoft in a surprisingly fun and not nerdy area - I swear! :) I live and spend my time in Seattle proper because I’m a city guy, but I have strong affinities for great views, foliage and the water.
This is really cheesy, but I can relate heavily to the movie “The Family Man;” IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0218967/. I enjoy my job for now, but I’m yearning for something that 1.) does something for the greater good and 2.) gives me more time to spend on the MMA mat. And deep down inside I want to be a US Senator, but these are #FirstWorldProblems, and so my cushy tech gig will have to do for now :)
Movies: Top Gun, Armageddon, and SpiderMan2… so clearly I have a total hero complex, haha. That’s probably why I joined the military! Otherwise, I gravitate towards action and comedy. An action-comedy (like 21 Jump Street) is basically a guaranteed good time!
Music: I’m not that musically savvy. Yes, even though I hate silence - I always have something playing in the background. A quick peek at my iTunes purchase history shows some Calvin Harris, Kanye, Drake, Timberlake, EDM and Bruno Mars – basically AT40.
Food: When I’m alone, I eat boring food (food is fuel = lean proteins and vegetables) so I can basically eat whatever when I’m out with friends. Drinks! I like a good beer on draft; vodka tonic (with Belvedere) if we’re doing mixed drinks, and martinis for special occasions. And if you order wine I probably will too – ladies first, of course.
-Inspirational quotes. My iPhone case sports a giant “DO EPIC SHIT” sticker, and I have a “Wake Up, Kick Ass, Repeat” poster on my office door.
-I’ll think of four more things to tell you on our first date.
-You’re passionate about…anything lol… or constantly get called “driven,” when in your head you’re just like “What are you talking about? Isn’t this just what people do?” I can relate. ;)
-You want a date where you’ll 100% have a good time and laugh out loud
