My self-summary
Scrappy, scruffy, snobby, silly. Ambitious, amiable, awkward, aloof.

I think OKCupid has a poor -- that is, normative -- idea of who I am. It keeps saying people are 'less pure' than me. I don't even know what that means and, at any rate, I very much doubt it is true.
What I’m doing with my life
Pursuing a few artistic disciplines. Looking for love (or heartbreak). Enjoying New York and (as often as I can) the world at large.

But mostly, I expect, I'm making for decent comedy and mediocre melodrama.
I’m really good at
I've excelled at most things I've tried. I've tried too many things to be accomplished at any one of them.
The first things people usually notice about me
...my vocabulary. Or maybe my nosering.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Lit: Borges, Italo Calvino, Umberto Eco, Alan Moore
Films: Fellini, Bunuel, Derek Jarman, Peter Greenaway, Akira Kurosawa, Hayao Miyazaki, Fritz Lang (Pretentious-seeming, I know. I went to film school.)
TV: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL
Music: David Bowie, T. Rex, Pixies, Nirvana, The Breeders, Bjork, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Portishead, Aphex Twin, Mum, Ratatat, The Knife, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Food: Moules Frites, Margarita Pizzas with Prosciutto, Takoyaki and Sake, Manhattans with Brandied Cherries and other hopelessly bourgie fare
The six things I could never do without
...my laptop, my guitar, my ipod, a good book, a sketchbook, and single-malt scotch.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...aesthetics, sex and strange stories.
On a typical Friday night I am
...with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
No... It's no good... it's gone now.
You should message me if
...you have a superlative mind, an unusual imagination, an adventurous libido, or a big heart.

Or you're familiar with the authors I like and can make an apropos recommendation. It's been too long since a new book has really wowed me.
