My self-summary
I'm someone who's sure of who he is, but is also open to becoming something more than I am today. There are things about me that are sure as the sun rising in the east, and elements that can seem to contradict my other aspects or tendencies. Describing myself is not necessarily my strong suit! However, I am a very good conversationalist, I greatly enjoy the exchange of thoughts, ideas, and feelings. I love to spend time with others who have a lot on their mind & aren't shy about sharing. I tend to like people who are outgoing, not necessarily party animals or attention-seekers, but someone who is open to sharing of themselves, and who's interested in listening and responding to me as well. Once I get to know someone, I love to have vibrant and sometimes loud conversations and share our passion for life. Humor is important, but I'm not too picky about what kind of humor. I am open to a lot of different types of "funny" in others. My own humor varies between dry, sardonic wit & silly puns and wordplay.

I am curious, contemplative, and caring. It would be cool to meet someone here who is of a similarly so.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a creative drive and a love of art, especially the visual arts. I have a degree in art, but like any artist knows, learning is a lifelong process. I spend much of my time either learning in a self-directed way or creating artworks, for either myself or as part of my professional work. Art for money is not a something I am conflicted about, or a matter of me "selling out." Most of the art forms I enjoy the most were created at least partly for the reason of making money. I consider myself lucky that I can make a living doing that which I enjoy, and still have spare time to do my own art that has nothing to do with profit.

I am a philosophical type, and like to talk about the "Big Questions" and big issues with others who are similarly inclined. Of course, I also like talking about silly & nerdy stuff that's not real heavy, and make offhand comments that are either really funny in a weird way or weird in an awkward way, depending on one's sense of humor. I am also very good at obscure cultural and entertainment-related references, sometimes made at very incongruous times.
I’m really good at
Drawing, writing, reading, thinking and analyzing. Cartoons and fun illustrations are some of my favorite things to draw. I love colorful and silly visuals, and am a fan of surrealist artists, among others. I am an odd mix of "creative-type," with many of the romantic and spiritual notions that often go along with that, and a very matter-of-fact, logical person who doesn't often let his passions lead him into pitfalls. I am very sensitive to my own and other people's emotions and can be very empathetic. I'm a very good listener and give pretty good advice more often than not. Honesty is a big thing for me, both my own honesty and that of those I meet. It's about the only "mandatory" I clicked on in any of the questionnaires on this site. I am very open-minded and flexible about a lot of things, while I have a few certain "mandatories" that are important to me. Honesty is one of the main ones. I can be good at taking advice as well, though that is a talent I have had to develop. At the same time, I can be very clear-headed and deliberate in the midst of chaos and crisis, even if something alarming might be going on. I am emotional but disciplined. I can be a word geek and may nitpick any verbal or written faux pas that I see. Despite that, I can be a lot of fun to have around, and a very good friend and companion to have by your side.
The first things people usually notice about me
People notice that I am quiet, yet there is something almost playful and childlike under my "Clark Kent" veneer. I have a playful and silly side that comes out once I'm comfortable with someone. I can be kind of verbose once I know that the other person is interested in hearing what I have to say. Sometimes people think I'm odd because of my quirky vocabulary and delivery, sometimes they just think I am from England or Canada. I think I have a slightly odd accent because I am from the east coast, but I also spent years doing cartoon impressions and can copy a lot of accents. I do know that most people who spend more than 5 minutes talking with me come away thinking I'm a pretty interesting guy and we end up becoming either acquaintances or friends.

Six things I could never do without
French Fries, Milk, books, cartoons, the Internet, old photos. Oh, and if I am forced to live in a hot climate, air conditioning. Let's just say normal Bay Area coastal temperatures and humidity levels are about at hot & damp as I ever want it to be.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Past, present, and future. Where humanity is going, if it's going anywhere at all. Where I fit into all of that. I think about and study what other people seem to think, belive, consider important, so that I can understand where they ar coming from and to learn how to better convey where I am coming from to them. I hope to do that with my art and my writing and my humor. I believe cartoons and visual art in general can be a powerful transmission medium for ideas, and since I seem to have an innate talent in that area I hope to use the art I love to help influence and educate those who are here and those yet to come. At the same time, I hope to save from psychic and physical oblivion things I believe are valuable and important that existed in the past that are becoming increasingly rare, be they creative works, ideas, or ways of life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with my friends, and/or watching a movie or engrossed in something I am reading. There are so many books and films I have yet to ingest!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have had cats in my life that I treasured more than some people I knew. In my household, they were pretty much full-on members of the family. Animals, cats especially, are very wonderful creatures to me.
You should message me if
Message me if you like lively conversation, seeing the world through new eyes, and sharing thoughts, dreams, feelings and more with someone who is honest to a fault and cares too damn much about the world and the future of humanity in general.
