My self-summary
I am a retired writer and editor who is independent, creative and (some say) funny. I would like to connect to an easy-going, unpretentious man about my age who can walk unassisted, balance his own checkbook, and drive at night to share life stories, relaxing dinners, and long walks.
What I’m doing with my life
Adjusting to being single after a long and loving marriage. Learning to navigate the area without my GPS and enjoying new friends and new places since moving to New York after decades in New England.
I’m really good at
telling stories, maintaining my home, caring for my family and my dog, writing emails and personal notes, gardening and making dessert.
The first things people usually notice about me
The first thing people notice about me is my small shadow: my shih tzu, who is my walking buddy most of the time. I find our strolls in view of the Endless Mountains to be perfect times to meditate and remind me of how grateful I am for my life and health.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
"The Color of Water," "Comfort," GMA, Diane Sawyer, The X Factor,
The Voice, 40s and 50s music, Tony Bennett, Kitaro, chicken Marsala, eggplant parm, bagels, Riesling and asparagus.
The six things I could never do without
Family, friends, daffodils, summer breezes, dark chocolate, sweet memories.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...not a lot of time but SOME time working on my determination to live without expectations (no disappointments that way), stop over-thinking everything, and talk less and listen more carefully. But most of all to relax and enjoy whatever life brings in the years ahead.
You should message me if
you are a gentle, upbeat college grad who lives within an hour's drive of Binghamton, NY, laughs often and is interested in beginning a friendship that can evolve into a long-term relationship to enjoy these slightly tarnished golden years.
