I'm loving California so far! There's so much to do, so much to see; Even after all this time it feels like I'm just barely scratching the surface.
. Working on a top secret side project!
. Hiking here in Berkeley/Oakland hills, or in the incredibly beautiful Mount Tam area
. Checking out the latest dumb horror/action movie
. Happy hour (... usually hours) with co-workers
. Not-infrequent Tahoe ski trips and Yosemite hiking trips
. Enjoying games of both the board and video variety.
. Reading thought-provoking books (also, some not-so thought provoking fun ones)
. Games; strategy; thinking three moves ahead.
. Learning how to do new things, usually programming related, but sometimes not. (At the moment, I'm working through a bunch of books on drafting and rendering, which has been really fun.)
Evenly divided between pure fun escapism like The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss or Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, and thought-provoking sciency books like Moral Tribes: Emotion, Reason, and the Gap Between Us and Them by Joshua Green
Big dramas are my jam, man. The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek
All over the place on this one. Basically I'll watch anything that's good, or loud, or horrifying. I have a special place in my heart for huge, ambitious, imaginative flicks. Favorites include: Cloverfield, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, A Single Man, Edge of Tomorrow, 3:10 to Yuma, Star Wars, Interstellar, It's a Wonderful Life (shut up)
