My self-summary
I'm originally from Texas; I moved here three years ago to program for a startup, which is still going strong.

I'm loving California so far! There's so much to do, so much to see; Even after all this time it feels like I'm just barely scratching the surface.
What I’m doing with my life
Workdays, I program for a small (but growing!) startup in downtown Oakland. In the evenings and weekends, there's running & the gym, plus fun stuff like--

. Working on a top secret side project!
. Hiking here in Berkeley/Oakland hills, or in the incredibly beautiful Mount Tam area
. Checking out the latest movie
. Happy hour with co-workers
. Not-infrequent Tahoe ski trips and Yosemite hiking trips
. Enjoying games of both the board and computer variety.
. Reading thought-provoking books (also, some not-so thought provoking fun ones)
. Frisbee!
I’m really good at
. Thinking creatively; designing new things, coming up with new ways of approaching things; dreaming up fictional worlds, people, stories.
. Games; strategy; thinking three moves ahead.
. Learning how to do new things, usually programming related, but sometimes not.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite ever has to be The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Recently, I've been getting into The Expanse trilogy. I also loved Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Also, I love thought-provoking sciency books like Moral Tribes: Emotion, Reason, and the Gap Between Us and Them by Joshua Green.

Big dramas are my jam, man. The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Daredevil. Recently, Westworld has captured my heart.

All over the place on this one. Basically I'll watch anything that's well-reviewed, or loud. I have a special place in my heart for huge, ambitious, imaginative flicks. Favorites include: Cloverfield, The Matrix, The Martian, A Single Man, Edge of Tomorrow, Star Wars, Interstellar, It's a Wonderful Life (shut up)
Six things I could never do without
The internet. Running shoes. Podcasts. Driving. A pen and notepad.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Economics. Utilitarianism. What was Starbuck in season 4 anyway? My super secret project. The next new thing to learn. Politics.
