My self-summary
If food and drink is a metaphor: I like spicy -- others would say I'm well-seasoned! If I was a drink, I'd be sparkling champagne, a rich merlot or cognac. Or early morning Jet Fuel (otherwise known as coffee). Enough, on to the profile:

I enjoygood conversation -- doesn't matter what the topic -- life, current events, politics, philosophy, metaphysics, and the weird and wacky things that go on in this strange and enticing world. Food and cooking are passions to share with friends and family. I do it well because I enjoy dining rather than just eating. I've lived overseas for many years and like exploring different cultures, from Asia to Europe to South America. Life is wonderful, after many years of learning what I value - friendship most important among them.

I want to meet people who have lived interesting experiences in life. We all have baggage -- it's what you learn from it that counts. I really enjoy being with my friends and family. Don't have time for games -- other than backgammon! To paraphrase the satirist Bill Maher, if you order a Starbucks vente, half-soy, half light creme, double mocha frappucino with splenda instead of equal, you're a control freak. So, if this describes you or you're a drama queen, please pass me by.

I've worked in several different fields, from making movies, design and architecture, law to body and energy work. I meditate and workout fairly regularly to keep the spirit in the machine running. I have a somewhat jaundiced view of the world but a highly developed sense of the absurd and love to laugh a lot. If you don't have a sense of humor, life gets far too serious. There's enough craziness going on in today's world, from the strangeness of invading other countries to "free" them, the lack of healthcare for all people in this supposedly 1st world country, to our deplorable lack of education in what's going on in the rest of the world.

There is so much more to say and to share. . .

Saya perempuan kaya. Suka keluarga dan teman. Saya sedikit gila tetapi punya banyak teman sama saya

I am witty, tall, slender, and redhead
What I’m doing with my life
Looking at what I want to do for the next 30 or so years as I send my daughter out into the world. It's a big planet and the world needs help governed by love.

This quote pretty well sums up a large part of my life:

‘The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.’ - Kurt Vonnegut
I’m really good at
Looking at the world with a wacky sense of humor. Finding the good in otherwise crazy situations. Reinvention. Fomenting revolution!?! Looking at the 3 Pillars of Creation and trying to wrap my mind around the wonder of it all.
The first things people usually notice about me
Tall blue-eyed redhead who smiles a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Some favorite films: Just recently saw The Fault in our Stars where young teenagers deal with dying far better than many adults I know. The Attack, an Israeli film about the Palestinian conflict. Personal, yet unbiased. The Tourist, Shall We Dance (Japanese original), Departures, The Tango Lesson; the Red Violin, Babette's Feast, film noir, and every once in a while, an action film. Too many others to mention. Recently saw Anonymous - a film positing that Shakespeare wasn't the writer the English world thinks. The King's Speech and Black Swan - completely different, each good in their own way. Some Indian films like Mistress of Spices or Dhoom II (the Indian version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith - very entertaining).

Music: mostly jazz, classical -- from symphonic to Gershwin, Cole Porter, to Ella and Frank. I grew up around the big band classics like Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Euro style like Basia and Viktor Laszlo. Like world music and am fascinated by Kodo and taiko drums and gamelan music from Bali.

Books: Most recently, Proof of Heaven, Suspect, The Lover, Eat Pray Love; Kite Runner, The Piano Shop on the Left Bank, The Woman Who Can't Forget, The Mist and the Rain, Hunger Games, Stroke of Insight.
The six things I could never do without
Friends/family, a good glass of wine, a passport, books and music and early morning jet fuel to start my day.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My spiritual beliefs give me a framework where every day I am responsible for my happiness, no matter what life challenges arise, as well as being an agent for the change I want to see. How to best enjoy life with family/friends, be of service to others, what this latest incarnation is about, among the other more mundane stuff like supporting the first president of our country to make me feel something other than anger at the shortsightedness and stupidity of our narrow minded tunnel vision over the last 25 years as we continue to dumb down education for our future citizens by just testing them rather than teaching them to think for themselves. So, if you think the uber-wealthy demagogue spewing hate and the us v. them brand of fear mongering is the sine qua non of what the republicans could offer our country, think that the last Republican representative of the 1% should control the remaining 99% because "Father knows best," or believe that the tea party or conservative fundamentalists (of any stripe) have all the answers, we would definitely butt heads.
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking something tasty to eat while drinking a nice glass of wine, talking with friends. Playing on my computer, dancing around the house.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not much! After all, this is a public forum.
You should message me if

By the way, I've noticed that OKCupid doesn't seem to follow the parameters I've set - i.e., please live in the central metro Phoenix area, be straight and within 53-65. And, oh yes -- if you haven't bothered to write anything about yourself in your profile (seems there are a lot of people who just join and then stop at that juncture) or give a little information as to education, height, weight, etc (you know, that column over there on the right) -- please do not contact me. I've taken the time to put some information about me on this site and would like to think you would be willing to do the same. Same for posting a picture of yourself (or not). I am a visual person, and make no apology for saying that the package is part of the overall picture.
