My self-summary
I love the outdoors, literature, live music (blues, salsa and jazz, mostly) and human creativity of all kinds. I enjoy being around people who are honest, grown-up, and don't think in cliches. I love to smile and laugh, and have a wicked sharp sense of humor, actually can be kind of a smartass -- but never at your expense. I like to say that I’m independent and motivated on the outside, but filled with a warm, empathic center. I like holding hands, casual kisses, and that emotional alchemy that happens sometimes. And yes, I’m definitely looking for a serious relationship with the right person. No lies, no playing, no kidding.

I am melodic, ironic, bucolic, and quixotic.
I’m really good at
I listen and smile ruefully when you tell me about work craziness. I reach for your hand when something you say makes me smile. I give you the space you need when you need it. I move snakes and turtles out of the middle of the bike path. I always leave good tips. I'll pull you close and kiss you when you need me to. I laugh at myself because, ya know, I slip on the occasional banana peel. I can update my resume in 2 hours now. Guacamole will be the first thing I make for you!
The first things people usually notice about me
Dunno -- have to ask people. My smile, maybe? A bit of smartassedness, but only when justified, and only after people get to know me...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Most Thomas Pynchon novels, anything by Terry Pratchett, Jorge Luis Borges or Iain M. Banks, the Nebula and Hugo awards, movies that aren't filled with cliches (boring!), Italian and Mexican food, steak (rare, please!), Forbidden Planet, Raising Arizona. Slashdot, IO9, Danger Room, APOD. NPR. The W&OD Trail. Nothing "smooth" or "lite." Davis. Dizzy. J Geils. Chucho Valdez. Buena Vista Social Club. Luther Allison. Leo Kottke. Jerry Gonzalez. John McLaughlin.
The six things I could never do without
Redwood trees, my bike, Firefox, brains, integrity, passion.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to think about. Recently, Cheetos and dark beer, Buddy Guy's Legends, Ray Barretto, the summer. And bacon!
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with you!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Heh -- good luck with that.
You should message me if
You have a great walk and a passionate heart; you like blues and jazz; your kisses mean something; you're not afraid of help when it's given; you are a bit of a smartass; your deeds match your words.
