My self-summary
I'm a geek. If you are too, so much the better.

Music loving, eco-minded, Green Party voting, Phillie phanatic, AT hiking, 1/2 hour commuting, ape-descended, star-gazing, cartoon watching, internet addicted, chess playing, book reading, sci-fi guru, friend 'til the end, carbon-based life-form that your mother will love.

My best friend and I bought a house about three years ago. So now I live with my cat, my best friend, my best friend's cat, my best friend's dog, our housemate, and (every other weekend, it seems) our housemate's girlfriend. Fun times!

I am intellectual, semi-quasi-pseudo, and whole
What I’m doing with my life
Carving out my place in the world.
I’m really good at
Procrastinating, though not always intentionally. I lose track of time, and weeks will sometimes blur together. I work too much.

I have an interesting habit of saying inappropriate things at bad times. My sense of humor runs a bit to the eccentric side, and what sometimes seems hilarious in my head seems much less so half a second after it leaves my mouth.

I tend to be the one to take charge of groups, so long as I don't feel the group is taking advantage of that. This just happens.
The first things people usually notice about me
I like to observe first and act with considered intent. I am pretty much a textbook introvert.

I'm very blond, literally.

At work, I hate inactivity. If I'm not doing something, then I'm doing something wrong.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have favorite authors and subjects rather than favorite books. David Brin, Greg Bear, Daniel Quinn, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C Clarke, Neil Gehman. I pleasure read physics books written for the layperson for pleasure. I enjoy history and social science books as well as novels and short stories. I'm known to blow $40 at a time on pulp magazines for the short stories. "Dune" by Frank Herbert.

I prefer good movies (who doesn't). What I mean is, I dislike movies that have action for the sake of having action. I'm bothered by movies that have unrealistic characters. Bad dialogue is inexcusable. Movies that make me examine them to fully understand them are much more interesting to watch than the typical summer blockbuster. Donnie Darko, The Shawshank Redemption, Notting Hill, Once. That being said, if it's a science fiction movie, all my rules go out the window.

Music is important to me. I'll sing to myself at almost any opportunity. I go long stretches of time with songs stuck in my head. I like the music of VAST, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Glen Phillips, Genesis, Stabbing Westward, Nickle Creek, Tonic, Third Eye Blind, Pink Floyd, REM, Rammstein, Tears For Fears, Seal, Marvelous 3, Wise Guys (gotta love German accapella music) and various others. I'll listen to almost anything except really hard-core rap, and even that statement isn't always true.

Food is a strange experience for me. I feel like I have almost no sense of smell, so the most important aspect of food for me is texture. Many things taste the same to me. I'll drink in the company of friends, but usually not as much as they do. I don't drink for the sake of drinking.
Six things I could never do without
Corrective eyewear (would be very unfunny to be without), close relationships, fresh air, my ability to think, laughter, and hope.

Most importantly a sense of humor. There's too much crap in life to take it all seriously. Though I'm guilty of doing that sometimes.

On a more practical level... PS2, car, college-ruled paper, paychecks, dishwasher, clean socks.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Daydreams. Whatever I last read. How fast am I driving?

Poetry is an oral art form. Discuss.

The place of music in my life.
On a typical Friday night I am
...the same thing we do every night, Pinky.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm really not sure. Ask me whatever it is you'd like to know and I'll tell you. My birthday is June 28. Get me something. *smiles*

I have a crush on the character Racetrack from the new Battlestar Galactica series.
You should message me if
You want conversation or know the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. Or if you're just bored. Or if you're Julia Roberts. Or if you know that Caxtons are birds with mechanical wings that sometimes perch upon the hand. Or if you're not Julia Roberts.

No one is perfect. It takes time to figure out how someone may or (more likely) may not fit into your life.
