Fairly recent Midwest transplant.
I'm a software developer that has a philosophy degree.
I'm a somewhat shy, geeky guy.
I apparently enjoy summarizing in concise statements instead of building a narrative.
I'm a beer snob.
One of my greatest fears was that my life would turn out like Office Space, a fate that I have managed to avoid thus far.
I try to be a genuine person, I don't ironically enjoy things. If I like something, it usually because I find it genuinely rad. *Note this does indeed extend to the word rad.
I am creating what I hope is awesome software that will be a benefit to the world.
Exploring my new environment as much as possible.
The fact that I'm Asian?
I've really not given this a whole lot of thought.
Its been pointed out recently that I seem to be drawn to "beautiful devastation" in what I read. If you have read "The Sculptor" you know what I mean.
TV: Arrested Development, The Simpsons, Its Always Sunny, The Venture Bros, Doctor Who, Archer, Firefly, Community, Parks and Rec, Sherlock. I think the three shows that most influenced my personality are the Simpsons, MST3K and Late Night With Conan O'Brien.
Movies: This is Spinal Tap, The Usual Suspects, The Dark Knight, RoboCop, Kurosawa movies, Clerks, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Hard Boiled, pretty much anything by Studio Ghibli, Hot Fuzz. Also terrible movies like The Room and Roadhouse. I cannot stop thinking about Fury Road.
Music: Eclectic to say the least. I guess standbys are usually old punk, preferable those that predate my ability to speak English, Nofx, The Clash, The Ramones, Bad Religion Dead Kennedys, etc. Also Daft Punk, Cake, Kraftwerk, Ben Folds, Gorillaz, St. Vincent, etc..
I also, frankly, listen to far too many podcasts:
Comedy Bang Bang, The Nerdist, The Indoor Kids, Doug Loves Movies, and How Did this Get Made? to name a few. Also probably everything within 2 degrees of separation from these.
My Computers and various high tech trinketry.
Video games, and other nerdy hobbies.
Absolutely frivolous bits of pop culture minutia.
Whether that involves a night at the bar or a night in depends on the week that preceded.
If you're a nerd, and would like someone to talk nerd with.
You can't stop thinking about Fury Road.
