My self-summary
I'm often funny, opinionated, and extroverted on the outside, but sometimes nervous, self-conscious, and introverted on the inside. I love learning about new ideas and having my mind changed about old ones. I don't understand boredom...there's so much to learn and do it blows me away. I find people fascinating and I would rather have a long conversation outside the club than remain in it on most nights.
What I’m doing with my life
I grew up in Manhattan, studied Math and Philosophy at Northwestern university in Chicago, and moved back here to work as a healthcare actuary in Manhattan. Actuaries, by the way, are not in any way like Ben Stiller in that inane movie. After a few years of that I took off on a 9-month long trip around the world (literally -- I circumnavigated it). I've just gotten back and I'm looking for a new job. I spend my free time exploring New York, playing and listening to music, writing and reading, and enjoying my friends, family, and life in general.
I’m really good at
-Puns and playing with language
-Analyzing and forming an opinion on virtually anything, even if I don't know much about a topic.
-Knowing a little something about everything (at least, I try)
-Having opinions, asserting them, and then being convinced that I'm wrong
-Yelling at TV screens during sporting events and Republican debates
-Not sharing my creative projects with other people and being okay with that
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Six things I could never do without
My closest friends
My guitar
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Philosophy, music, the human mind, how the people I know think, the origin of the universe, books I'm reading, the pros and cons of being me, writing, willpower and how I should have more of it, how lucky I am to live in this time and place, how shitty it is to live in this time and place, politics, economics.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends or home playing guitar, reading, or writing. Sometimes I'm studying for an exam -- actuaries have to take professional exams, you see...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I never learned to drive. Keep meaning to get around to it...
You should message me if
you're smart, funny, and driven, and we would learn something from each other. Also if you want to know what an actuary is, I can help with that, too.
