My self-summary
Bay Area born and raised, I embody a lot of what you might expect: liberal as all getout, into yoga, sci-fi/fantasy books and the occasional comic, and am deeply involved with the internet. I'm an (agnostic, cultural, half-) Jew and the expert punster that that entails. I try to steer clear of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl archetype, but sometimes I brush against its edges. Try to avoid that, but embrace it when I can't. I watch a lot of tv and movies, and do prefer to see utter crap in theaters. I own many, many pairs of shoes. I have exceptional game when tipsy. If you catch me singing in the car, it will either be classical choral music or loud rock. When I grow up, I want to be happy (not that I'm not now, it's just my primary goal). I love road trips. And dogs. I really dig cephalopods (chromatophores are what allow squid to change color and blend in with their environment, which doesn't REALLY describe me, sounds cool). I also like crows and bees. They're charming. I'm pretty into cars. I'm not a true gearhead, but automotive aesthetics really do it for me. I love my Nissan 370Z, and aspire to own an older vintage of the same vehicle. I am also a newbie motorcycle rider (GS500E), and managed to crash and seriously injure myself about a month into my career. Fully healed up now, and about to get back on the road any day now. I recently moved to the city with my boyfriend MagidowErgoSum and am enjoying cohabitation and the much smaller space than I moved from, mostly because there's less to vacuum, I think.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a strategist at a consulting firm. It's amazingly fun work, full of research, writing, wonderful, brilliant people and creating meaningful change out there in the world. Spare time means exploring all the farmers' markets the city has to offer, Making things (ask me about my notoriously unwieldy Halloween costumes!), and tracking down the best milkshake in the neighborhood.
I’m really good at
Well, I'm way better at telling stories than I used to be. They used to have no endings. Now they totally have endings.
I like to think I'm a good writer, I know I'm a great baker, I excel at putting together outfits that are interesting but still office appropriate, I'm great at putting things in piles but not actually cleaning up, I'm fair at sketching, and I used to be a pretty good singer. I can finish entire containers of bread and butter pickles without really trying.
The first things people usually notice about me
Oof, I probably play with my hair way too much. But apparently that's appealing? I don't know. I laugh a lot, my vocabulary incorporates more SAT words than most other peoples', I tend to push the limits of business casual (I don't wear high tops as much as I used to, but I still get by with some all-white Nikes that I had to custom order because no one makes all white high tops anymore...?).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Right now, I'm mostly reading motorcycle books to try and stay safe out there, and occasionally pick up one of the dozens of cookbooks that inhabit our apartment. I have a deep affection for crap like Lee Child (however, as any real fan will tell you, the Jack Reacher movie was a TRAVESTY). My favorite book is still American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and I love almost all his stuff; also really into China Mieville (Kraken, most recently, super amazing). When I was younger, I devoured everything by Francesca Lia Block.

Movies, again, the worse, the better, especially those populated entirely with one-liners (Nicolas Cage oh my god have you SEEN Vampire's Kiss?!). My favorite movies are a little cooler, The Fall, The Fountain, Delicatessen...but also Step Brothers and Role Models. Amazing.

Shows, Always Sunny, Parks and Rec, Top Gear (UK, not US, naturliche).

Music, I'm bad with. I tend to obsess over a single album and just get totally sick of it. I don't love going to live shows (I have some mild self-diagnosed tinnitus), with a few life-changing exceptions (Daft Punk, Massive Attack).

Food, what? All of it? I guess some weirder favorites are brandade, petite basque cheese, and the chilled tripe dish at Delfina Pizzeria.
Six things I could never do without
Gah, really?

1. The internet (sad sad sad).
2. Some bigass book (really, could be almost anything, though fiction is preferred).
3. Cheese. Period.
4. I do love high tops.
5. Sleep. Delicious, delicious sleep.
6. The sun! I hate winter. Plus if there was no sun, everything would totally die and shit.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
In Spanish, the verb esperar means to hope and to wait.
On a typical Friday night I am
Uh, let's say I'm hanging out at a cool bar with cool people drinking cool drinks! That's what cool people do, right? No, chances are I am doing laundry because our building only has one washer and dryer and NO ONE ELSE DOES LAUNDRY on Fridays.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm judging you by your shoes. Also, grammar, spelling, and syntax (you can take the girl out of the liberal arts college etc. etc.). Like, right now. But I feel bad about it. Slightly.
You should message me if
You are a lady and interested in a sidekick/unicorn position between my partner in crime, MagidowErgoSum and me.
