I'm a transplant to Boston by way of New York, California, Ohio, and a couple of other places. I have a few degrees, the most recent being a MBA, and am working in university administration while considering a return to arts administration or striking out for unknown territory. My friends recently dubbed me smart, classy, and twisty, though I'd add funny and kind to the mix. Definitely multifaceted/quirky and looking for the same.
Like most OKCupidians, I’m hoping to meet some people and see where things go. More specifically, I'm looking for a long-term relationship based on love, trust, and mutual interests. I'm much more interested in the quality of the relationship, than any kind of practical timeline. If you think we could have a good time at the museum, the arboretum, a movie, or a coffee shop, drop me a line or two to start the conversation.
In my free time, I sing, do yoga, dance, meet friends, cook, read, watch movies, and recently started exercising more via parkour and couch to 5K. In my life, I want to find more joy and be true to myself. I have a rather idealistic belief in the importance of personal growth as well as social justice to change the world.
Authors: My tastes continue to cover somewhat trashy fiction (Anne Bishop) and interesting nonfiction (Daring Greatly, Brene Brown). I also have an enduring enjoyment of Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, Jane Austen, EM Forester, William Gibson, Mary Roach, Kim Harrison.
Movies: I'm happy to watch almost anything with a plot and somethings without. Ex. Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Inception, The Cell, Orgazmo, Brick, District 9, When Harry Met Sally, The Thomas Crown Affair, Constantine, Ocean's 11, Secretary, Persuasion.
Every holiday season, I watch three things: Love Actually, White Christmas, and South Park's Woodland Critter Christmas. This, I think, says a great deal about me.
Shows: I don't have TV, so most of these are old or something that was recommended to me. Ex. American Horror Story, Blacklist (I didn't want to like you Blacklist *shakes fist), Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, South Park, The Daily Show, The Wire, Pushing Daisies, Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Music: 90's rock, alternative, classical, opera, art song, folk. I've been loving the alternative female rockers recently like Fiona Apple, Amanda F*ing Palmer, and Janelle Monae. *I bought a Celtic harp and am learning to play by recreating NIN songs on the harp..like Closer and Right Where It Belongs.
Due to a neighbor with an excessively large CB antennna, I no longer listen to the radio. Despite listening to podcasts, I still miss NPR like a lone sock misses it's mate.
If you want a trip to the surreal world, watch her video for C'mon. I dare you. ;)
