My self-summary
I've been living in the bay area for six years. I just love how many beautiful places, great experiences, and interesting people are right at your fingertips.

I'm usually looking for an excuse to go blues/swing/tango dancing. Sometimes I'm rock climbing or riding my road bike. I'm always plotting at least one backpacking trip.

I just wrapped up a PhD in Neuroscience. I'm passionate and opinionated and seeking the same.
What I’m doing with my life
For the last 6 years, I've been working on whether we can change risk preference by altering brain activity. With lasers.

For my next trick, I'll be working on whether we can find new uses for old drugs based on mining publicly available medical data. Wish me luck!
I’m really good at
Partner dancing. Come out with me! I won't judge...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Media: there's a lot of NPR and NYTimes in my life. Really, an almost embarrassing quantity of NPR.

Books: my last few reads have been When Breath Becomes Air, Men Explain Things to Me, H is for Hawk, On Being Mortal

Music: ooh...blues. tango. Right now I'm also on a Marian Hill kick. Ask me again tomorrow though.
The six things I could never do without
dancing
late night conversation
wry humor
hiking/backpacking
good food
good company
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether I can do this work outside in the sunshine...
On a typical Friday night I am
In a tent. Or blues dancing in the city. Or chatting with a few friends over drinks. Or cooking a nice meal at home and recovering from the week so I can do something fun on Saturday. Or...
You should message me if
...you enjoy late night discussion on science/education/economy/policy.
...you like to play outside, rock climb, and/or social dance.
...you're more interested in what you do than in what you have.
...you want a partner in crime, but you don't think you want kids.
