My self-summary
Why should you get to know me? I can saber a bottle of champagne open with a butter knife. It's best not to use the good champagne, though. Other than that, I'm a serious smartass who will make you laugh as well as being someone who is thoughtful and considerate of others, and run-on sentences really turn me on.

I love going to see bands, comedians, and plays. Live performances are something everyone needs to see more of because they truly give you an appreciation for the arts and the talent and dedication it takes to get good at something that's so transient. Well maybe not everyone needs to see more of it. Just enough people that there are still enough tickets left for me and my friends.

I love to cook, especially elaborate dishes that take way too much time. If you have your grandmother's cookbook, chances are I want to see it.

Also, total tango addict. See below for more details.
What I’m doing with my life
Seeking enlightenment while trying to master Hollandaise sauce. I cheat at both, frequently.

I love, love, love to cook, but I am just not crazy enough to try to work in a restaurant.

About six years ago, I started dancing Argentine Tango (yes - there are different types of tango), and its consumed a fairly large part of my life. I go out dancing a couple days a week, and I'm really loving the challenge and the dedication it requires. At some point, I'd love to make the holy tango pilgrimage to Buenos Aires.

I don't expect someone I'm seeing to take up tango, but I do expect that someone I'm seeing is OK with me dancing.

Also, I host a bar trivia night in Columbia City on Thursdays. You should come by sometime.
I’m really good at
Making cheesecake. Just about any kind. My NY cheesecake will impress you, but my Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake will make you weak in the knees.
The first things people usually notice about me
My glasses. I only occasionally wear contacts, and I have become known for rocking very distinctive frames.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Einstien's Dreams, American Gods, Mark Twain's Essays, The Lucifer Effect, The Art of Happiness, Sit Down and Shut Up, The Discworld Saga, Game of Thrones series, The Postmortem, How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe.

Movies - Lost in Translation, Prophecy, Garden State, Sideways, and Casino Royale. Not much of a movie guy, actually, but I have a very geeky fondness for the Marvel movies.

Music - Pearl Jam, Leadbelly, John Lee Hooker, Mars Volta, Eric Clapton, Moby, Blues Traveler, Arcade Fire, The Ramones, The Cure, Zero 7, The Smiths, Foo Fighters, 22-20s, Jem, Nirvana, The Decemberists, Harvey Danger, Postmodern Jukebox

Food - Sushi, Sushi, Sushi, Vegetables, a properly prepared steak, french food (especially Bistro style), GOOD Chinese food... Actually I can appreciate just about any food as long as it's made with care and attention.
Six things I could never do without

A comfortable place to sleep

My sense of wonder

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, society, and cooking. They're all hobbies. Also, what I could really do with photography if I had the money.

Tango. I told you... addict.
On a typical Friday night I am
On a date, with friends, out dancing, ranting about social inequities, or all of the above. Usually all at the same time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Dave Matthews once hit on my date, right in front of me. He was really drunk. It was awkward.

...but yes, she continued the date with me and left drunk Dave back at the bar.
You should message me if
I appreciate someone who likes trying new things, even if they wish they didn't later. Someone who's unpretentious, geeky, and loves music. ...oh my god. I just realized I'm looking for an unpretentious hipster in Seattle.

I am so screwed.
