My self-summary

Some bits and pieces about me:
I'm a writer and had four kids' books published so far, and I've also been teaching creative writing in schools for five years now. The workshops are fun as I basically get paid to help kids write ghost stories, make up superheroes or come up with weird fairytales involving zombie hordes, etc.

I've studied a fair bit too and have a couple of masters' degrees (although one is in Egyptology so...) and I've lived in Greece and Spain teaching English. I've been in London for eight years now and can't see myself leaving anytime soon.

Other stuff I like:
reading (W. Somerset Maugham and Guy de Maupassant are current favs)
the countryside
dramatic weather/scenery
good food/restaurants/wine
boats and water, especially the Mediterranean.
lie ins
running (new to this though and pretty rubbish at it)
films (Wes Anderson's probably my fav director. Loved a Great Beauty too and Before Sunset kills me every time I watch it)
TV shows (Loving Hannibal at the moment; so stylish!)
Americana music (Deer Tick, Trampled by Turtles and recently got into a band called the Turnpike Troubadours...don't judge me)
Bruce Springsteen
nights out with friends

What I’m doing with my life
writing and visiting schools.
I’m really good at
see above. And procrastinating.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall, I wear glasses, and I have a beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Re music I'm listening to a lot of Wolf Parade, Nick Cave, The Deep Dark Woods and Springsteen. If it twangs or rocks I'm in, and I enjoy gigs too.

I LOVE watching a good film too. My favs are The Darjeeling Ltd and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (not the most high-brow but it makes me laugh every time).

I read a fair bit but don't have a particular favourite genre.
The six things I could never do without
Decent restaurants
Cynical humour
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends in or staying in watching a film or TV series.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm prepared to admit I watched the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with my mum. It was weird (the situation not the film - well the film was a bit weird too but mainly the situation).
You should message me if
you want to.
