My self-summary
I'm the delighted observer, the appreciator of small things, and usually the first one in the ocean. I'm an Aries, if that means anything to you; I'm independent and social, easily excited and always game.

I'm the analytical flower child, the outdoor-enthusiast with (hella) urban flare, the vigilant environmentalist with a car, the East-Coast-small-liberal-arts-school-educated farmer. I am the NPR-listening, bike-to-work promoting, surfing-climbing-camping, liberal values-toting human that you've come to expect from any good San Francisco girl. But I'm the appropriate chameleon; I'll show up to a party, bejeweled and citified with salt on my eyelashes and dirt under my fingernails.
What I’m doing with my life
I can be found riding my bike to work, doing yoga, playing tennis, listening to NPR, surfing, traveling, camping, in attendance at the Strawberry Music Festival... I'm a 13-year devotee of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the Chinese New Year Treasure Hunt is a long-standing favorite, generally obsessed with events that bring out San Francisco's beautiful, crazy character (the Pink Party, Halloween in the Castro, Critical Mass, Thrill the World)
I’m really good at
reading and engaging people, singing, tennis, working with my hands...guitar, farming... Ms. Pacman, tossing a disc, parlor games, giving back-massages, making you laugh, awesome hugs and strong handshakes, getting REALLY excited about things, multi-tasking, being one of the guys
The first things people usually notice about me
I get "exotic" a lot as a descriptor, which is fascinating; in this crazy melting pot of a city, I'm still confusing people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Middlesex, the Adventures of Cavalier and Clay, Cannery Row, the Botany of Desire, Still Life With Woodpecker, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Exodus, Mrs. Rumphius, Wynken Blynken and Nod, the Giving Tree, the Mysterious Tadpole, Where the Sidewalk Ends...

Sneakers, Some Kind of Wonderful, Clue, Goonies, Better off Dead... seeing a pattern? yeah, okay, I love all kinds of movies, but if you ask me for my favorites, I'm going to rattle off your standard, 80's coming-of-age classics because truthfully, they feel like home and they never disappoint. Oh, and obviously Dazed and Confused, the Princess Bride, and Bring it On...

Led Zeppelin, the Police, Paul Simon, Tom Petty, CSNY, Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, Wilco, Del McCoury, David Grisman, Beck, Pearl Jam, Prince, U2, most of what happened in the 80's... I know, there it is again.

Bi-rite salted caramel, avocados, peaches, sushi, cabbage in all of its brilliant forms, pupusas, Primavera salsa, la Taqueria burritos, veggies from my farm. Thanks to my profession, and the city that raised me, I'm slightly entrenched in the sustainable food movement...
The six things I could never do without
friends and family
sunshine
farmer's markets
the ocean and my surfboard
fertile soil
my trusty steed (bicycle)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
people, personal relationships and human interaction. plants and soil and fruits and vegetables and flowers. family and friends and personal growth. our ridiculous food system and how we ever managed to get here in the first place. my next international destination. trying to turn off my brain and not think about anything at all. boys. the weekend...
On a typical Friday night I am
either curled up with a glass of wine and a cheesy-but-fabulous 80's cinematic classic, asleep by 10 for an early morning excursion, or out and about with friends at a house party, a bonfire, an outdoor movie, a critical mass, a happy hour, a dinner party...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was actually born in Texas. But hold on; i only lived there until I was 7.5, and I'm still probably the closest thing to an SF native you've ever met. Unless, of course, you are one, in which case we should hang out...

And let this not rule out my Texan admirers; I definitely have SA pride, visit my family there once a year, and own (and regularly sport) the appropriate accoutrement to prove it.
You should message me if
you're sharp, fun, outdoorsy, conscientious and happy
