My self-summary
A New Zealander, I moved to Toronto three years ago after getting a Canadian passport. I’ve also lived in London, UK, and Melbourne, Australia, and have had lots of adventures along the way. I work in the arts and love what I do and am lucky enough to look forward to going to work every day. Happy, relaxed and confident, while being a ridiculously loyal friend and appreciator of four legged canine creatures.
What I’m doing with my life
Seeing as much of the world as I can and gathering up people and experiences on the way. Toronto is home for now though, I just bought a condo and have no plans to go anywhere...
I’m really good at
Saying yes to adventures, making friends with strangers, exploring…
The first things people usually notice about me
In Canada, my charming and adorable antipodean accent…
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: it’s too hard to choose, I have a lot of music and tend to have a constant soundtrack to my life, but Thom Yorke is one of my favourite people in the whole world. Others in no particular order, Bjork, Band of Skulls, Metronomy, Band of Horses, Phoenix, Florence & The Machine, Jack White, Mos Def, Animal Collective, Little Dragon, The Strokes, Sigur Ros, Ella Fitzgerald, Arctic Monkeys, Flying Lotus, Electric Wire Hustle, Lamb, Vampire Weekend, The Postal Service, Tune Yards, Tony Bennett, Foals, Sufjan Stevens, Cold War Kids, Julie London, Portishead, The Black Keys, Fleet Foxes, anything Josh Homme does, so on, and so on…

Books: Kurt Vonnegut, Haruki Murakami, Jonathan Franzen, Cormac McCarthy, Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay is one of the best books EVER), Donna Tartt (definitely The Secret History, not so much The Little Friend), Philip Roth, Ian McEwan, Maurice Sendak, and then some…

Films: anything by Lars von Trier (Dancer in the Dark is my favourite film of all time, although I’ve only ever seen it once and don’t think I could watch it again. If you’ve seen it, you probably understand), Michel Gondry, Wes Anderson, Tim Burton, Guillermo del Toro, Terry Gilliam, Quentin Tarantino, David Cronenburg, The Coen Brothers, etc, etc…

TV: I don’t actually have a TV hooked up to a network so tend to devour box sets rather than scheduled programming. Have been known to obsess over The West Wing, The Wire and Forbryldesen (the original Danish version of The Killing) and am an appreciator of Game of Thrones, Louie, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Downton Abbey, Green Wing, Peep Show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Family Guy, The Office, Sherlock and anything where the writing is smart, quick and keeps you on your toes… Oh, and I can pretty much have complete conversations made up of Simpsons quotes, which I watched far too much of while at University.
Six things I could never do without
coffee, headphones, gin, lazy Saturday mornings, random adventures, cheese (everything is better with cheese)...
On a typical Friday night I am
Seeing a band, show, film, hanging out with friends or whatever other activities are on offer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a slight irrational fear of squirrels. They’re cute and all but they have sharp claws and are just so damn skittish…
You should message me if
You've mastered the perfect high five, you have even the slightest inkling what my username refers to (note - it has nothing to do with anything you wouldn't show to your 5yr old cousin), or there was something in this profile that made you curious…
