My self-summary
TL;DR I'm a loner who needs human contact and tasty food. I'm an INFP, immigrant, only child.. who moved around a lot as a kid.

I've been lucky to meet lots of interesting people here, but the point of poly-saturation has come upon me. So you should know that my time is sliced pretty thin!

However… definitely message me if you'd be open to playing with one of my existing partnerships :)
What I’m doing with my life
what i should have been doing all my life thus far.. luckily my current job is getting me there.

trying to escape the present indefinite.

Recently finished reading: Bone Clocks and numerous pulpy sci-fi novels (ask me if you're curious). There's also a pile of five or six books in various state of completion. A few books I've managed to finish reading recently: Goldfinch, The Three-Body Problem books, Altered Carbon, 2666, The Secret History (which I really can't recommend highly enough). I'm kind of an omnivorous reader, so don't get me started.

Currently listening to: random punk rock / metal that I used dig as a kid... also picked up a transient fascination with surf rock.
I’m really good at
my bag of frequently neglected skills include: baking bread, a keen sense of direction, cooking, woolgathering, haiku, and various math and computer related forms.

I rarely bother updating this section.. so caveat emptor. Or not.
The first things people usually notice about me
semi-innocuous guy with cool glasses.. if it gets to that point, the second thing people notice is that i'm actually quite entertaining to talk to.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
[tl;dr - Since I'm looking for people to meet in the "real" world, chemistry and pheromones tend to trump common interests.]

reading : the stranger, confederacy of dunces, enders game, the sci-fi of neal stephenson, curious george, bukowski, anything really.

watching: horror, twin peaks, millennium (if you liked that show and listen to jazz, stop reading and just message me)

listening: hard to pin down, but i wouldn't make it without music by bach and joy division, lots of npr and jazz.

food: home made bread, anything baked , anything vegetarian

drink: tea and water mostly. If it wasn't made from industrial grade carcinogens, I would drink Yoohoo every day.
Six things I could never do without
hexagons, six packs, devilish numbers, sixth sense.

Oh come on, I thought that was clever...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
where all my time goes, my elusive childrens book, why monogamy doesn't work, the impending technological singularity, the absence of Friday December 30th 2011 in Samoa

also why my profile is taking this downward drift: from factoids about me (above this fold) down to descriptive text about things that i like.
On a typical Friday night I am
not in a club. but frequently i am at: the neighborhood bar/cafe. ogle me at the cup-a-joe cafe and then send me a message here.. or something.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If you like Proust and you're female, I'll probably think you're pretty hot.. I'm pretty shallow that way.

I'm in an open relationship, which you won't be taking the place of OR butting in on.. So go ahead and send me a message!
You should message me if
[tl;dr - you want to help me get out of my own head :) ]

this seems like an entertaining day to you: Farmers market in the morning. Vaguely plan a large meal to cook. Go to the library, get some books and records. Walk around the city. Stop at a coffee shop. Listen to records [jazz is good] Smoke weed. Cook.

You don't have to actually have done this, but if this sounds boring or extreme (from either perspective) then we probably won't get along too well.

Also you should definitely send me a message if you like playing the classical piano... I have zero ability, but have been obsessed with Bach's keyboard music recently.

There's also this, that I wrote awhile back, but I'm still trying to figure out whether to remove it:

If you're a woman that loves jazz and would be excited to train a newbie about it's charms. That's any age[*] , not scared off by the fact that I live with a partner who is cool with seeing other people. What else? You should be comfortable with your weight, SF +/- Bart. You should like fantastic (occasionally silly) tales, not scoff at books with pictures, read books without pictures.

If you're the above you should be replying. If you're not, then we probably won't get along too well. Unless you're nice blend of similar/opposite, in which case we might become famous pals!

[*] you know what i mean, pervert! [**]
[**] having laughed at that is a bonus
