My self-summary
I'm the kinda guy you only occasionally see at parties but if you need help moving, or disposing of evidence, I'm your first call.

I enjoy so many things - I love art, come from a family of artists, but I took sciences in university and am passionate about it. I have a legal education but don't work in law.

I especially love the nerdy things in life - Doctor Who, speculative fiction, board games, etc.

I have a booming voice but spend almost every day in near total silence. I’ve got a pitch-black sense of humour, but I’m not above making a terrible pun. I’m a bundle of stereotype defying contradictions.
What I’m doing with my life
I pay the bills wrangling technology to serve the needs of non-profit organizations.

I aspire to work as a writer and game designer; so I'm mostly about working on those things.

I value working on things that matter more than money - ideally, you do too.
I’m really good at
I'm a very engaged listener - I'm present and focused in a way others have a hard time being.

I am good at putting voice to the thoughts of others in a way they find pleasing or useful.

I'm also a pretty good cook and masseur.
The first things people usually notice about me
I make the kinds of jokes and remarks around strangers that most would only make with friends.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The most influential book in my childhood has to be Ender's Game; I know, stereotypical nerd fixation but it's true.

That said, affording my own dismissal through failure to include/exclude a specific item is not something I want to endorse.
The six things I could never do without
internet, words, pen and paper, philosophy, humour
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How on earth I'm going to get caught up with my rapidly growing list of projects...
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm sporadically self-employed, so some Friday nights I'm working. Others I'm writing. Still others I'm playing boardgame.

Occasionally, though less often than I'd like, I can be found at a pub or at a club.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For whatever reason, I have a visceral response to embarrassment scenes in movies and TVs to the point where I feel compelled to change the channel or look away. Even merely awkward moments make me cringe. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough for me to think it abnormal.

I have lots of theories why this might be the case, but I'm not really certain.
You should message me if
You're looking for someone to have fun with in a variety of ways. I like nights in, watching movies, but I also love to dance, drink and carouse or go out on wilderness adventures, or just walk my dog.

Being a card-carrying nerd, I like board games, video games etc. However, I love the outdoors (who doesn't?), especially walking with my dog.

So ideally, I'm looking for someone with a strong sense of self. Someone with rigorously pursued passions that I can in turns excite, cheerlead, and make-out with.
