My self-summary
Looking for a companion, a partner, someone who wants to share life
What I’m doing with my life
In the chaos of life it is nice to occasionally remember that the meaning of life is only found in the journey, for after all, that is what life is. I believe that we have an obligation to act as trustees for the future and to leave the world a little bit better place than we found it. I definitely do not follow the old axiom of he who has the most toys when they die wins, because what have you really won. Material things are nice but they are hardly the end all and be all of life. Right now I am enjoying working with kids sports and having a blast. There is nothing like working with children and see them advance and develop their innate talents and become a better person in the process. What you give back is far more important than what you take and I am looking for someone that will understand that and appreciate it, someone that is willing to wander with me along that path that is called life. Someone that can appreciate a quiet afternoon sitting around the deck appreciating nature, an afternoon at the museum, puttering around in the garden or a day at the beach. Someone that understands that companionship does not require non stop chatter but is comfortable with friendly silence. Someone who is attractive and self assured. I must add it is also important that they feel comfortable boating whether it be zipping someplace, or just floating around Merrymeeting Bay at sunset sipping a glass of wine.
I’m really good at
First and foremost I would have to say Problem solving. It is what I do for work although most people would not look at my profession that way but when you strip away the covers it is what we do. The next thing would be keeping calm (or at least appearing to keep calm) when everything around me is collapsing and to instill that sense of calmness in others so that I can get back to what I do best. It is very hard to solve problems when everyone around you is running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes and my laid back nature.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Lately I have been working my way through the wonderful prose of Gravity's Rainbow. There are times I get so caught up in the elegance of the writing that I need to go back and reread it to figure out where it was taking the plot. The one before this was Master and Marguerite.
The six things I could never do without
The ocean (or at least a large body of water); freedom to live as I want; my friends; the ability to be outside; my dog; love
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The meaning of life, how big is the universe, what is going to be for dinner, you know, important stuff
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a tendency to listen to opera on Saturday afternoons since it is on NPR and that is when I am often out and about. I actually have decided that even though I can not understand a lot of the lyrics I like it.
