My self-summary
I will dance in the rain (and anywhere else), and I break out in song at random moments. Music is my nepenthe.

My "probably shouldn't say that out loud" filter burned out years ago. My inner monologue is almost always outer. (I do manage to control it for limited amounts of time when absolutely necessary, such as business luncheons or an office Christmas party.)

I don't feel trapped or threatened by gender or relationship roles or expectations.

I am well acquainted with my inner child. We get together on a regular basis to play hopscotch and make silly jokes. Considering the types of jokes, my inner child is apparently a 12 year old boy.

I don't believe in soulmates, happily ever after, or "the one." I think one can love multiple people in a lifetime, and sometimes at the same time. That does not mean, however, that I want to be with someone who is having sex with lots of other people (though I care nothing for the number of previous partners, and I'm open to the idea of multiple partners, as long as there is honesty and agreement). And I do not get involved with married men. Period. I'm not judging, it's just my own personal choice.
What I’m doing with my life
Following my passions. That includes preparing for a national powerlifting competition, doing a lot of swing dancing, and sailing whenever the weather is nice. And trying to meet someone with whom to be passionate.

I recently started volunteering for an organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. I offer free professional portraiture to parents suffering the loss of a baby.

I just won third place in a national fitness competition! I'm planning to spend my meager winnings to charter a sailing yacht for a few days.

I passed both exams to obtain the CompTIA A+ certification after one month of studying, but that was over two years ago. I was studying for the CCENT, then the CCNA, but I got sidetracked. I still love computers, but my real estate business is taking off, and I just got my broker license. I manage investment properties, mostly single family residential. But now that I passed the broker exam, I'm back to studying computer networking! I've fallen in love with IPv4 subnetting!
I’m really good at
Defending the indefensible. Finding the fun in the mundane. Remaining calm when others would panic. Initiating adventures. Occasionally being an insufferable know-it-all.

On a more serious note, and without trying to sound pretentious, I am above average at a large variety of things. I might have a superiority complex, but I'm open to learning new things, and it would be cool if you prove me wrong sometimes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Let's see... What do guys look at first? Yeah, probably that. ;-)

Or possibly my ramageous hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite books are non-fiction. I love to learn new things, and I also like to see how other people think. I read books on all of my hobbies, I read books about faraway places, and I read books about how to pick up women. Yeah, I'm just strange like that. I also like some science fiction, particularly fantasy stuff. I like to read about history, and I read biographies. I fell in love with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy in my teens, and I still love to read it. Some favorite authors include Philip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, and Margaret Atwood. I really want to like Ayn Rand; I think she had some very interesting ideas, but she was a horrible novelist.

Okay, I admit it. I also read the occasional romance novel. Always historical romance. Usually from the Regency period. Yes, I know it's corny, and yes, it's sometimes like soft-core porn, but it's fun fantasy. Speaking of which, I do also like to read erotica.

I like comedic movies (Austin Powers, Blues Brothers), and sometimes documentaries. I'm a sucker for musicals, and my current favorite is probably Chicago. I also love film noir and psychological thrillers. And need I say that anything by Monty Python is genius! Oh, and The Princess Bride.

And theatre! There are few things more fun than seeing a live musical on a rainy Sunday afternoon!

Firefly was one of the best TV shows ever. I also like South Park, and I will randomly quote Cartman from time to time. Whatevah! I do what I want! My latest favorite is Archer. I've seen every episode at least two or three times. It's so over the top and ridiculous, but with occasional intellectual wit. (See the first season episode entitled "Cyril's Training," which prominently features Chekhov's Gun.)

Music: Everything. Okay, maybe not gangsta rap, just because of the hate. But classical, blues, classic rock, jazz (but not that easy listening jazz, so much), swing, rockabilly, some punk rock, pop, hip hop, Latin, and even country (though I'll change the station when the "god and country" song comes on). I'll pretty much listen to anything I can dance to, and some things I can't. Pink Floyd, Queen, Pink, Joan Jett, and Lords of Acid are favorites, as well as The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Van Halen, and The Clash. I also like 80s pop, and big band music.

I like food. Italian food, Mexican food, Thai food. I like all kinds of food! I work out so I can eat. I'll never be one of those people who can subsist on plain oatmeal and boiled chicken breast just to have single digit bodyfat percentage.
Six things I could never do without
A sense of humor. As Marilyn Monroe said, if you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything. (Maybe not *quite* anything, but close.)

The warmth of the sun on most days of the year.

The internet, with its plethora of data and information.

Music to dance and sing to.

Lip gloss. I'm addicted to the stuff!

My big, comfy memory foam bed, with its 1000 count cotton sateen sheets. Mmmm... sleeeeeep.

Chocolate is good, too. ;-)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. All the time. All at the same time! I only *appear* to have random thoughts to those who don't think as fast as I do. I also make a lot of obscure references and horrible innuendo. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just nod and smile.
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a narcissist. I love myself. On a regular basis.
You should message me if
Any or all of the following apply:

~ You're a mostly sane guy or girl of almost any age who has had adventures (or wants to), who has stories to tell, who is driven by passion/ambition/conscience.

~ You're a person who seeks experiences outside of the mainstream--whether it's music, travel, food, extreme sports, swing dancing, or revolution.

~ You would like to make a new friend (which could potentially turn into more). If you want a loyal partner who will stay beside you through everything, but doesn't shed or drool. Not much, anyway.

~ You'd like to meet up, have a drink, and discuss politics, religion, or just about anything else.

~ You want to rose tint my world.

~ You are attracted to me because I'm sexy, but also enticed by my intelligence. If you're not put off by my zany sense of humor. If you're impressed by my sesquipedalian verbosity. (And why isn't sesquipedalian in my computer's dictionary? Doesn't everyone use that word in everyday conversation??) And if you can still respect a girl who's a little naughty.
