My self-summary
I love camping, kayaking and paddle boarding, hiking, board games, dancing, murder mystery parties, escape rooms, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, baking, working out.... I like being outdoors more than I like money, so I recently negotiated with my boss for an extra month of (unpaid) vacation time each year. And I am pretty stoked about all this time off to visit friends and family and go exploring!

I currently live in Indianapolis. I'd love to move back to the East coast area to be closer to family and old college friends (I went to Cornell), but I also love my job and the super sweet vacation time that goes with it...so I'll only move back to New York if I find a really great job that I'm excited about.

I grew up on a farm and liked living in the country, but I like the city just as well. I can skip the suburbs though...just not for me. I'm easygoing about most stuff, but can also be very passionate about things I care deeply about, so I can be a bit intense.

I'm sort of traditionally minded when it comes to relationships and am pretty much expecting a guy to work for it if he wants to capture my heart. :-)
What I’m doing with my life
I was a high school science teacher for 6 years. Now I'm a mental health therapist and work with kiddos who struggle with anger, depression, anxiety, or trauma. I have a lot of passion for working with inner city kids and issues of social injustice and love what I do. I was originally hoping to work with adolescents in the foster care system or adolescents who struggle with addictions, but I love my job now, so no plans to leave right off! ;-)

It's VERY important to me that I get to have children...and the number of years I have left to do so is quickly running out :-( I'd like to have kids of my own, and I'd also like to adopt or foster some children. I just really love kids! In my mind, I have between 4 and 8 kids, some of them permanent and some of the temporary, sitting around the dinner table working on homework while I help them with their math and cook dinner at the same time. I'd love to be a stay-at-homeish mom who focuses on raising kids and works part-time only because I'd really miss being a therapist if I didn't. I sort of love being a therapist. It is a pretty sweet gig.
I’m really good at
School--I've always been really smart. Cooking--I can make most anything. Dancing--or at least I'm better than most, plus I love it. Working out--I'm usually sweating more than anyone else in the gym when I workout...lol
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my smile or my laugh. I have a big old grin that comes out easily and a loud, hearty laugh that comes out less often, but is very distinctive! People always tell me they knew I was there because they heard me laughing (ex. at the dining hall in college, at a big church, at work...)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love
Pride and Prejudice (book and movie)
The Killer Angels (book)
Dexter, Hannibal, & Impractical Jokers (TV)
Adele, Sam Smith, and country music (sad love songs that make me cry because they remind me of my life)
Lecrae (Christian rap artist)
Third Day (Christian rock group)
and (drumroll please) soft serve ice cream with rainbow sprinkles on a cone!!!!
Six things I could never do without
Let's be honest (though it pains me to say it), my smartphone is probably number 1.
My mobility--I love being active, especially outside.
Kids! They bring me happiness :-)
Ice Cream!!!
Goodwill. I'd have a lot less money were it not for Goodwill.
A good laugh.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
where I'm going to go camping/hiking next
my job
how old I'm getting and still don't have kids....sigh
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking, cleaning, gardening, working out, doing a puzzle, or hanging out with friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love the game Dance Dance Revolution that came out in the late 90s and play fairly often on an old-school xbox.
You should message me if
You have old-fashioned values, like kids, like the great outdoors, like working out, like board games, are smart, have a romantic streak, and would LOVE to take your wife out dancing even after you've been married for 30 years (or at least take her dancing because you know she loves it ;-)
