My self-summary
I was going to use a Neil Young song for my username, but Heart of Gold was already snatched up and I'm not from the south, so.... disappointment.

I ramble. A lot. More accurately, I start sentences without knowing how I'm going to finish them because language is an ADVENTURE.

I'm from California originally and despite 6 years of New York living, it still shows.

I'm optimistic and quiet and a bit of a perfectionist, but in a weirdly personal kind of way.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to be half as insightful as David Foster Wallace?

I'm trying to be a writer of one kind or another, - that's the dream. In the meantime, I work in film production (Yay, movie stars! Boo, long hours!).
I’m really good at
Critical analysis. Writing (or so I'd like to think). Answering phones, a byproduct of my job. I'm a half decent cook and a much better baker. Reading. Pool (billiards, for the snobs), which is definitely helped by the fact that there's a hall down the street from my apartment.
The first things people usually notice about me
The hair. Specifically the length, usually followed by a comment on its 'body'. My boss ran her fingers through it once. It was SUPER awkward, for everybody involved.

But yeah, I look like I wandered out of a 90s alt rock band.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Well that's a monster category....

Books: Neil Gaiman's Sandman; Anything with David Foster Wallace's name on it; House of Leaves; Catch-22; also a bit of a Shakespeare nerd.

Movies: The Lion King is my favorite movie of all time, followed shortly by Eyes Wide Shut. Other biggies are Scott Pilgrim, 500 Days of Summer, Sunset Boulevard, Brick, and The Fountain.

TV: Doctor Who season is back! Loving Capaldi so far. Also a big fan of Hannibal, Game of Thrones, and Archer. And True Detective. Also The Knick is pretty underrated. Mythbusters too. And that's just current stuff, not even going into old shows....This is kind of a big topic.

Music: Yes, please.

I mean, I don't want to be one of those people that says 'I like everything', but I DO like everything. Including Death Metal! You haven't lived until you've been in a mosh pit at a Death Metal show. I guess favorite bands would be The Hold Steady, Titus Andronicus, Baroness, The Smashing Pumpkins, and LCD Soundsystem.

I will literally eat anything, but I'm something of a beer snob. Or, at the very least, I have an unhealthy obsession with local breweries.
Six things I could never do without
This....is actually a lot harder than I expected it to be. Uh....

-A Pen and notebook
-Work. Sad, boring, and true. I get antsy when I don't have a project.
-My laptop, having lost it once
-Coffee. Cripplingly caffeine dependent.
-Running. Because I'm usually late, but also just because it's FUN.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What House of Leaves was actually about.

The person across from me on the subway.

What the actual, straight up, BEST BAND OF ALL TIME is (please weigh in on this, it bugs me a lot).

How awesome my life would be if I were Spider-man.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably at a bar, drinking a beer, with anyone I can drag out. Hopefully my good friends, and hopefully a weird and unique and local beer, but I'm hardly picky.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've intentionally messed up when dealing with movie stars to antagonize them. In my defense, they always start it.
You should message me if
- Beatles or Zeppelin?
- Superman or Batman?
- Flight or Teleportation?
- The Wire or Deadwood?
