My self-summary
Native New Yorker, Documentary filmmaker, and Loving, witty, GGG. Looking to make images with someone. Splitting time between my home in Brooklyn and my studio in Philadelphia.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm the final stages of producing a feature length documentary on a group of young artists in a Philadelphia gallery space that i lived in a few years back. Its equal parts coming of age story, art and culture doc, musical, and experimental narrative. this is the film that i wish someone would make, and so i'm making it.

I'm also the owner of a small video production company. Through my job i've had the chance to meet some really amazing people who are involved in social policy at both the governmental and grassroots levels, and i'm very proud that my paychecks come from things i believe in. In fact, when developers bought my building and started trying to force us out of our stabilized apartments to build condos, some of the same organizations ive worked with were the first ones to offer us help. Karma rules.
I’m really good at
All the best people are really demanding- Stanley Kubrick, Kevin Shields... that's how i feel about myself.

impressions, singing harmonies, analogies, slipping in and out of brooklynese.

I love sex and believe sexuality is a form of creative and personal expression. Rilke said it best- http://www.carrothers.com/rilke4.htm

Ive opened my "letter", and read it and re-read it.. and while I think you can't re-write whats there, you can add to it every day, if you're brave... and the rewards are worth the risk.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Herzog, Cassavetes, Godard, Renoir, that sort of thing. Life and films are really the same thing. I used to teach film history and aesthetics, but i love all kinds of films. Twin Peaks: The Return is Lynch's Pierrot Le Fou... a masterpiece that ties together everything he's done up to that point as an artist. If you want to discuss something like that, well... lets talk. I also hope Shane Carruth may be having Kubrick's career in slow motion.. and I wish Lynne Ramsay would get back on track too. We need more female voices in cinema.

I used to play in bands, and did experimental music back in the day (That scene is thriving now in Philly, and it warms my heart :) I love collecting records and films.

In spite of the obnoxious aspects of mass sports culture, i'm an avid Mets fan (My cousin actually played for the Mets, and the Dodgers back in the day when they were still in Brooklyn). I'm pretty athletic and ride a few laps around prospect park most nights, and i take pride in my body.

Im pretty widely read, but i wish i had the time for more novels. I tend to read biographies of filmmakers these days, for insight into my work.
Six things I could never do without
My camera
Good coffee
My bike
The cinema
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Cinema and where its going, gentrification in Brooklyn, the mets bullpen, being a good uncle, my dance moves, margaritas, Gender roles and expression- androgyny is sexy, in and out of the bedroom.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either partying with my friends from the art space, working on my film, or riding my bike in prospect park late at night (and avoiding the cops).
You should message me if
you want to meet that outlier you were wondering about...
