My self-summary
I have tried many things and traveled to far-off places to stand tall (5'2"!) and know what I want. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, my family immigrated to Brooklyn in 1991. I spent my high school and college years being a self-important New Yorker until the pull of a new chapter drew me westward. While I still find that traveling is one of the best ways to shake things up and reframe my perspective, I enjoy coming home inspired with a fresh reserve of memories. What I seek, I invariably find within and through meaningful connections. We are all works in progress. A great relationship is built on a great friendship. Chemistry is a must. If we laugh a lot together - that's a good sign. I value trust in relationships and integrity of character in a man above all. I'm interested in finding and building a relationship with someone who is ready for the same and with whom I find a common language.
What I’m doing with my life
I have always made art one way or another. My fascination with the visual world has lead to a career as an artist in the video game industry. These days, after years in the digital space, I find real paper and paints much more satisfying. I'm in the process of reworking my professional portfolio to align it with my broader interests and goals. In a way, it feels like coming home to myself. A couple of years ago I wrote a short illustrated story; it's gone through a few iterations and is now in the homestretch phase. It has certainly been and continues to be a test of my dedication and focus.

I dance and climb regularly. This summer, it's time to start going outdoors, me thinks. I also really enjoy camping. Looking at bonfire and stars reminds me of all the important things in life.
I’m really good at
Helping a friend in need, listening, asking questions a 5-year old would find interesting, engaging conversation, self-reflection, seeking and finding adventure, tasteful jokes, appreciating nuance, poise and grace, standing on my head, standing on my head with poise and grace.
The first things people usually notice about me
Trick question. We don't know how people perceive us, only how we want to be perceived, but my laugh always seems to elicit a reaction. Usually a good one.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Master and Margarita, 100 Years of Solitude, The Little Prince, Twelve chairs, The Alchemist, Love in the Time of Cholera, Mumin Troll, Unbearable lightness of being, anything by Edward Gorey, children's books with great illustrations;

Movies: Foreign and independent is usually my choice. I like checking out what's playing at Landmark theaters. Wes Anderson - thank you for doing what you do.

Music: Ludovico Einaudi, Emancipator, Idan Raichel, Federico Aubele, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Purple Prose, Putomayo compilations, and lately I can't get enough of Ed Sheeran.

Food in no specific order: avocado, dark chocolate, eggs benedict, blueberries, dark rye, green tea cream, shiitake mushrooms, rainbow roll, asparagus, trout, red wine, hummus, bruschetta, thai eggplant with basil, lamb, duck, garlic naan, mango with sticky rice, flourless chocolate cake, prosciutto, champagne... that seems like a good note to end on.

I don't own a TV, but I enjoy TED talks and podcasts.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to take over the world... or at least tame watercolor. How to narrow the gap between what life is and I what I want it to be, and whether what I want is actually what I need. Why they still haven't installed two additional women's bathrooms for every men's in all public places. What I did with my keys.
On a typical Friday night I am
Enjoying a glass of wine with some friends or home painting.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If you hold me and all goes quiet and the world blurs into the background and all I hear is silence - I am yours.
You should message me if
- you have a healthy mix of ambition and down time
- you have a broad range of interests, enjoy learning new skills and activities, and are not overly competitive
- you value personal growth
- you love engaging conversation and think of it as an opportunity to learn from people, not as a way to impose your point of view
- you are kind and compassionate
- you are funny as hell (or at least I think so)
- bonus points if you speak more than one language
