I read a lot of nonfiction on a lot of different subjects, but mostly psychology, politics, crime and science. I like Longform.org for shorter nonfiction pieces. Right now, I'm reading strictly for school, but I always have two or three books on my Kindle that I'm in the middle of. Most recently read Hallucinations by Oliver Sacks; Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan; and The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Conan Doyle.
Movies & TV
Diversions for when I'm bored or just want to veg out. I like a lot of TV: Justified, Breaking Bad, The Americans, House of Cards, some British and other foreign TV shows, American Horror Story. I LOVE Arrested Development and Community. Curb Your Enthusiasm is really funny, too. I also like Game of Thrones, Fringe, Dr. Who and Boardwalk Empire. For movies, I like a lot of documentaries, sci-fi, dramas. Most movie comedies are too broad for my taste. Not so into romcoms, although I do like some. About a Boy comes to mind.
Pretty much anything. Some hip hop, but not popular stuff. A lot of indie music right now: Frightened Rabbit, Little Dragon, Sleigh Bells. Some hard rock like Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age. Some old school rock like Guns and Roses and Metallica. Some classic stuff and some punk. Like I said, just about anything depending on my mood.
Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, American, French. Not so big on tofu. I have no problem eating animals.
I cooked professionally for a number of years, mostly high end Italian, but also made pizza, worked at a pub and in a steakhouse. Right now, I try to eat simply and healthily, but who can resist a burger and fries once in awhile? Not me.
