Now, instead, I try to talk to, meet, and observe as many interesting and new people as I can.
As cliche as it is, I've always been fond of the "work hard, play hard" motto, which ties in well with my craving for competition- be it pick-up basketball, lacrosse, or playing cards (hearts, spades, setback etc.), you name it, I'm in. Its more fun to try if there's a chance to win, right?
Somehow people who've known me for a while claim that all of a sudden one day "I just happened to be taller than they were"
I'll pretty much watch anything that a friend recommends, but if I have a "type," it could probably be summarized from some combination of the following generic descriptors (yes, several of these did come from Netflix)- cerebral, psychological, crime thrillers, dramas, foreign dramas, "dark," heavy, indie dramas, etc. (just to name a few: Good Will Hunting, City of God, Traffic, Mystic River, Eastern Promises, Se7en, American Psycho (great book as well)...
Edward Norton is at least one of, if not, my favorite actor. Think American History X, Primal Fear (his first), 25th Hour (great book also), Rounders, etc...
Over the past several years I've also watched a ton of great HBO/Showtime series I never watched when they were released- Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Tudors, The Wire, OZ, Deadwood etc...
Enjoy most kinds of music (except country) but don't follow it. Growing up, I listened to a lot of underground rap/hip-hop because people around me did. These days I've been listening to a lot of classic rock, alternative and often things that I hear in movies such as Talking Heads (in American Psycho), Radiohead (in Incendies, and many others)
Especially if "fun" brings to mind partying as much as it does watching a great movie or doing something you haven't done since you were a kid
