My self-summary
I'm a geeky, stereotypical nice guy.

I spend way too much time on my computer, either dinking around online or playing games.

I really wish I could go to Comic-Con... the one in Chicago is cool, but I don't think it's quite the same.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working on finding a career post-college. I might end up going to grad school, but at this point I'm really not sure if it's worth investing the time and money, even if I think it'd be fun.

Really want to move out West right now, preferably Washington or Oregon, but I'm not too picky. I crave mountains.
The first things people usually notice about me

Oh. People seem to think I look like Harry Potter.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I've got way too many favorite books and movies, but if I had to narrow it down, I might say Dune, The Dresden Files, the Vorkosigan Saga, and American Gods for books, and Death at a Funeral (Brit version), Star Wars, Stranger Than Fiction, Cloud Atlas, and Grand Budapest Hotel for movies. The Studio Ghibli movies are pretty amazing, too.

As far as shows go, Doctor Who, Archer, Arrested Development, Lost, Fringe, and The Venture Brothers. Oh, and Game of Thrones. Been digging some Black Sails and various quirky British murder mysteries lately.

My favorite music is pretty haphazard; mostly I find stuff through soundtracks. I like a lot of pretty movie scores, like Michael Giacchino and Alexandre Desplat. I like David Bowie and the Beatles quite a bit, and I also enjoy Feist, Zooey Deschanel, and a smattering of more recent big artists like Adele.

I really like any kind of food that involves meat, pasta, or cheese-- basically, comfort food. I don't think I could handle being vegetarian.
Six things I could never do without
My laptop, the library, the internet, my mp3 player, my family, and my books.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How things work. Not just physically, and usually not mechanically. Biologically to a certain extent-- but the origin of social behaviors can be really fascinating. It's interesting to think about, for instance, the cultural evolutionary factors at work that could have influenced the development of a certain custom.

And as long as we're on the subject, if you blankly refuse to believe in evolution on religious grounds, we will have issues.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my significant other (the position is vacant), or relaxing by either reading, watching something, or messing around on the computer. Occasionally playing Magic with friends from work. Staying up way too late no matter what.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I own a lightsaber. It's pretty awesome.
You should message me if
You're geeky, and would like to chat about Marvel stuff, Star Wars, Pokemon, Studio Ghibli, Game of Thrones, Neil Gaiman, or Doctor Who. If you are going/wish you were going to comic-con. Or your favorite thing about Chicago is the museums. Or if you're just a nice person and want to say hi.
