My self-summary
if i were a book, i would want to be written by Tom Robbins.
i was vegetarian for 23 years... and for some reason started eating seafood. i'm all about giving into temptation.
i grew up on 70s rock and roll, campy sci-fi and left wing liberalism.
i sometimes snort when i laugh.
my super hero name would be SuperAwesome. Totally.
delicious bird is almost a translation of my real name.
i believe in altered states, be it from a night of live music, a night of making love, or a night of heavy conversation. all three in one night would be sublime.
when i'm happy i wake up singing old Stevie Wonder songs, although occasionally "Chopping Broccoli" from SNL pops in.
i'd rather have deeply personal often inappropriate conversations than make small talk.
i take responsibility.
i'm honest, even when it's challenging or painful.
i dream of plane crashes, zombies (before they were "cool"), little girls wielding machetes, falling off edges into the dark abyss, and saving the world.
i cry at all of the really sappy movies.
i'm a terrible dancer, but i love having dance parties.
i have the long term memory of an elephant, but the short term memory of whatever is the opposite of an elephant.
i wanted to be Indiana Jones as a kid. now i'd just like to date him, circa Temple of Doom.
i smell good. i make my own perfume so no one else smells like me.
i believe in doing what drives you, even if it is considered taboo.
i often get lost in a tangent, but if you stay with me, i usually find my way back to the beginning.
i can listen to radiohead, beethoven, frank sinatra, tool, old dirty bastard, patsy cline and toto all with equal amounts of passion. music can bring out every emotion within me.
the idea of being in love scares the hell out of me and i can’t imagine anything more wonderful.
What I’m doing with my life
Planning my next adventure.
I’m really good at
potato pancakes.
(they usually have a little bit of my blood in them... hand grated!)
The first things people usually notice about me
aside from the third eye below the unicorn horn? wings.

but more than likely it's that i often wear my long hair in two braids. you'd be surprised by how many old men have told me that i remind them of the girl who sat in front of them in primary school, and how they would dip her pigtails into their inkwells. :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
The Secret History - Donna Tartt, Jitterbug Perfume - Tom Robbins, The Beach - Alex Garland, Lord of the Flies - William Golding, The Sandman series - Neil Gaiman, Cat's Cradle - Kurt Vonnegut Jr, Blindness - Jose Saramago, The Alchemist - Paulo Coehlo, To Your Scattered Bodies Go - Philip Jose Farmer, The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams, Alas Babylon - Pat Frank.

Movies:
there is probably a limit to how many times i can watch the The Dark Crystal, Goonies, Spaceballs, Starship Troopers, The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, High Fidelity, The Princess Bride, Groundhog Day, Microcosmos, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind... i just dont know that limit yet. yes, really, Starship Troopers. i honestly have no idea why but every time its on i find myself needing to watch it.

TV:
Yes, I watch tv. Usually by binge watching a full series at a time ---Legion, the OA, Westworld, Stranger Things, Daredevil, Fargo, Game of Thrones, The Leftovers, Walking Dead, and I will always have a soft spot for Buffy.

Music:
my musical taste is pretty far reaching.
since moving to california i've seen The Beach Boys, she wants revenge, prince, lcd soundsystem, dead kennedys, Lionel Richie, big van Morrison, Martin sexton, Jose Gonzalez, the go-gos, django django, bloc party, scissor sisters, radiohead, fujiya & miyagi, broken bells, nofx, wilco, feist, florence and the machine, thievery corporation, massive attack, band of horses, godspeed you black emperor, beirut, arcade fire, gotye, death cab for cutie, bon iver, dead can dance, sigur ros, the lumineers, the killers, jerry joseph, devendra banhart, bjork, mumford & sons, david byrne, the presets, the postal service and depeche mode...

Food:
I love food, and those who cook well. Although I don't eat meat, i have no issues sticking my hands in some ground beef to make you a hamburger. my happy place can sometimes be found in a banana and peanut butter sandwich. i could easily be sustained on cioppino, cornichons, and parmigiano (but not together). Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter cups are divine.
Six things I could never do without
the love of my family, friends, and my dog
natural intimacy/affection
traveling as often as possible
a big comfy bed
curiosity
warmth
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how infinitely large the universe is, and how insignificantly small i am being a part of it. its pretty humbling.
On a typical Friday night I am
my favorite day (which sometimes falls on a friday) would be spent lounging under a big tree by a river, preferably one with some kind of swing or hammock, with my dog and someone awesome... then dinner at a delicious quirky hole in the wall restaurant, followed by drinks out with good friends at a non-hipster bar with fantastic conversation and an amazing jukebox. the latter part is often how i spend my nights even on my non-favorite days. if that someone awesome was in the picture we might just be snuggled up on the couch with a great movie and bottle of wine.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
when i was about 7 years old at a Wham! concert, some nice guy put me on his shoulders so i could see better... and i peed on him.
You should message me if
You are affectionate, considerate, warm, curious, compassionate, silly, challenging, imaginative, insightful, loyal, clever, adventurous, a bit of a dork, have space in your life for someone, can make me laugh until i cry, and just all around awesome. a little crazy is ok, as long as it doesnt border on creepy.
