My self-summary
I am cunning, contemplative, and a cruciverbalist

I'm looking for friends, people interested in finding an extra hand for a game, or smartass layabouts to lay about with, smarting ass optional. I've got a busy schedule and work third shift, so meeting people can be a challenge. Lunch dates and weekends provide plenty of opportunities, though.

Did I mention I am in an open marriage with corneliafoss? You'll want to know that...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm focused on getting out of my third-shift job so I can do things in this engaging city. After that, making my yard a more pleasant space to hang out. Summer art fair/outdoor concert/block party/cookout season is fast approaching, so I'm sure that will be part of what I'm doing soon enough.
I’m really good at
I am a calm person and keep a level head in all kinds of situations. I am good to have around in a crisis.

I'm a quiet person, but when I talk people find me witty and engaging. I have a broad knowledge of esoteric facts.

I like to play board games and role-playing games, and am occasionally even good at them. If you need to win, you can beat me at chess.
The first things people usually notice about me
I find that if someone has met me once, they tend to remember me years later. I don't think that's due to any single feature, though. Because I am generally quiet, some people think I loom but I am often observing and taking the world in.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Simpsons character: Frank Grimes
Favorite X-Files episode: Jose Chung's From Space
Favorite Breaking Bad character: Skinny Pete

Got any other favorite categories to suggest?

I can appreciate haute cuisine or make the most of a buffet with equal aplomb. There is little I do not like though I have an aversion to hot beverages. That said, I am happy to meet in a coffee shop and have a coke.

My all-time favorite movie is Miller's Crossing, though the whole Coen brothers catalog is full of gold. I try to find something about movies that I can enjoy, no matter how bad they are. It's more enjoyable for me than studying a film for flaws, though I can understand the appeal of that common pastime as well.
I can't weigh in on favorite movie of the year until I've seen a few more. Ex Machina at least.

Musically, there are so many things I haven't heard that my favorites are probably still undiscovered. Current favorites include Speedy Ortiz, Ladyhawke, and 8-bit game soundtracks. Disasterpeace does good work..
The six things I could never do without
I wouldn't deal well with losing my legs (I love a long walk) or my intellect. When it comes to possessions I'm downright un-American.
My family is important to me and I do love my MP-3 player. It saves me from the piped-in music at my night job.

(I looked up the hyphenation and capitalization of un-American on Merriam-Webster online. Some things are pretty handy even if I could do without them)

And try as I might to give it up, I drink Coca-cola. It's my one addiction.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I should be studying to get into a new career, what to make for dinner, where I put whatever I just had in my hand ten seconds ago.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working late into the wee hours. I've been working mostly third-shift jobs for the last twenty years somehow. Evening outings are what Saturdays and Sundays are for - at least the outings that run late.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, let's just say I look a lot more strait-laced than I am.
You should message me if
...you want a response. I typically write back to everyone - there's only so much a profile can convey, after all. It's easier to tell what someone is like in person.

...you'd like an invitation to one of my game nights. They tend to involve a lot of chatting over cocktails, but games do come out eventually.
