My self-summary
I'm all over the map, in as many senses as I can think of for that. There's not a field I'm not interested in, and all I ask of anyone is curiosity and deep engagement in whatever they've chosen to pursue.

I love travel, and while I've had many lovely trips, I'm better known for my love of excruciating travel days and my pursuit of geographical extremes. Most of my wish-list trips right now started by looking at a map and thinking: "Huh, what the hell is that place doing all the way out there?"

I'm an unabashed nerd, and couldn't imagine living life differently, especially if it meant I had to be worse at boggle (the horror!). I'm also super active, and get into all sorts of new things... depending on the season you might find me hiking, cross-country skiing, playing tennis, disc golfing, snowshoeing, mountain biking.... the list goes on. I'm definitely looking for someone that shares a sense of adventure, and a love of finding new awesome things.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as an Economist and build a lot of models to predict all sorts of fun things, but do all sorts of things with my life... from growing fabulous sungold tomatoes, kales, and strawberries to studying astrophysics (cuz they're awesome) to reading excellent novels and writing poems of poor-to-middling quality. Oh, and playing ukulele, cuz you gotta fill the time somehow.
I’m really good at
Learning new things, word games, being ambidextrous (got to write right-handed all summer after I broke a finger!), being more competitive than you, predicting the weather, biking faster than cars, pepping up depressing songs by playing them on the ukulele.
The first things people usually notice about me
Energy! My spirit dog is a border collie (though as part of a more detailed story, my spirit animal is a white squirrel. And no, you don't choose your spirit animal; it chooses you).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Borges, Calvino, Michael Chabon, Lorrie Moore, Zadie Smith, TC Boyle... plus recently read Americanah and A Naked Singularity, which were both fabulous. Always looking for more fiction recs!

All that other stuff: Lists are super boring. It's almost certainly the part of your profile I skipped over. I'll hope it works to say I'm into all sorts of things, and up for pretty much anything else I'm not yet into.

Food: If a magic spell was put on me that meant I could only eat thai food and burritos, it might take me a little while to notice. But that aside, I do still love a good food adventure, and restaurants are one of the best excuses for exploring the city.
Six things I could never do without
- My bike
- Rooftops and backyards
- Adrenaline (or whiskey)
- The Sunday Crossword (preferably with brunch)
- Snow!
- Mock Dock Pad See Yew with Non-Mock Duck Thai Salad. Mm..
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- How I can convince the nice folks at the noguchi museum to let me have one of those sculptures.
- Where the failure of our system is that leads some people to insist on two spaces after a period.
- How far away things in space are...
- How we can pay for a guaranteed minimum income, and then either convince everyone to let us do it, or take over the government and do it ourselves.
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating something awesome, then finding a rooftop party somewhere to take in the surprisingly adequate city stars, all while planning an adventure out of the city for Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes, when it looks like I'm deeply engaged by something, I'm actually just thinking about prime numbers...
You should message me if
You're as smart as you are adventurous.
You wanna bike to the beach and play folk songs on our ukes.
You love a good debate
You think of Winter as a new batch of fun sports instead of an excuse to stay inside.
