My self-summary
Dammit, I cut my hair again and now I need a new pic. Just imagine me with shorter hair until then....

So. Me. First things first, I'm a geek. Always have been, always will be. I am attached, but I am venturing out into the land of polyamory, one slow step at a time. And yes, my wife is cool with it. Now that that's out of the way.....

Who I'm looking for: Someone to go to movies with. This is very important. Oh, and someone that has a sense of humor, high intelligence (I value all kinds), and some little idiosyncrasy that I can latch onto and associate with them as a person. Or a fish. Those are cool too.

As for me, I'm a working media professional, filmmaker, writer, and games industry enthusiast. I make my money as an Addy award winning lead editor, location sound mixer, 1st AC, and occasionally DP and director. And I can tell you what a Best Boy Grip does. ;)

I love a night at the movies (can you do 2 or more?), light drinking and conversation, the occasional heavy drinking and wanton tomfoolery (everything in moderation, including moderation!), and gaming. I'm also trying to get back into hiking, running, but not biking. I tried that. (It's a long story, ask me!)

I'd like to think that I'm a lot better interacting in person than I am in short, awkward messages. That said, you may find I'm just as awkward in person, but hopefully it's the endearing kind of awkward.
What I’m doing with my life
Movies, movies and movies. I work in the film and video business making commercials, corporate videos and the occasional feature film. I LOVE traveling for work, and I've done quite a bit of it, most recently Nepal for a month, and London for a week. I write, direct, produce, shoot, edit, mix sound, etc. I do that during the day, then come home and either write or game. I really have to admit, my life is pretty awesome.
I’m really good at
I'm a creative person. While I don't consider myself artsy, I have worked hard to develop a thorough understanding of the image and it's inherent power. (Haha! I wrote that when I was still a film student. How pretentious!) What I am for sure is a DAMN good editor. ($2 million dollars worth of projects a year, that good) I express myself best through writing, and I'd like to think I make a decent movie. I'm also a font of useless trivia.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes (green), my preference for mostly-black (though not outrageous) clothing, and my pervasive self-deprecating, pseudo-socially awkward sense of humor. And the fact that while they were distracted by all that, somehow I managed to grow on them. I don't know how that happens.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Here goes....

A) Recently read the Hunger Games trilogy, and I was pleasantly surprised. Favorite books of the last few years are The Dark Tower and A Song of Ice and Fire. Favorite authors include Tolkien, Herbert, LaVey, Vasquez, Orwell, Rice (pre-conversion), the list goes on.

B) Geeking out on Pacific Rim and Guillermo Del Toro right now. I love Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, (pretty much just OT though). If you can't stand them, we probably won't get along. I'll list directors, too; Faves include TarantinoBurton, Kubrick, Kurosawa, David LynchFincher, Raimi (guilty pleasures), and many more. Start talking movies and we won't stop. It is what I do, after all.

C) South Park devotee since Season 1! House of Cards was AWESOME. Also loveGame of Thrones Breaking Bad Arrested Development Doctor Who Archer Dexter, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, The Universe ( I have a HUGE crush on Amy Mainzler at NASA JPL), and other well written and/or informative programming. And Metalocalypse

D) I'm a metalhead at heart, but I've grown up a bit. A hipster friend just got me into M83. I've been on a big post rock kick the last few years. I love MONO, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Mogwai, This Will Destroy You and Explosions In The Sky. Also beginning to explore dubstep. Skrillex is cool but a bit too mainstream for my taste, Hecq is more my speed. Perennial favorites include Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Tool, The Cure, and A Perfect Circle, which comprise the core of my music collection. I used to be a big fan of goth/industrial as well; We have some common interests if VAC, :w:, and VNV mean anything to you.

E) Proud to admit that I absolutely love pizza, and most Italian food for that matter. I also like good Mexican, Indian, and Thai. A nice bloody steak is a great way to get me in a good mood.
The six things I could never do without
Movies, Music, Pride, Bathing, being able to geek out, and someone to geek out with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I'll never be able to go into politics in this day and age. Of course, I'll never be able to bodily enter a septic tank either, and both would end in the same result.
On a typical Friday night I am
1) Reading, playing video games or watching a movie
2) Working,
3) Open to whatever
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a virulent misanthropist. But that should be obvious.
You should message me if
You love movies, dislike herd conformity (especially the "non-conformist" variety), and generally believe that there are people out there who refuse to accept mediocrity. Ability to deal with unconventional situations a must, as is the ability to use the words "to, too, you're, and your" correctly. Also, if Fus Ro Dah means anything to you, we NEED to talk. :P
