My self-summary
In a productive flux. Enjoying it.

Anthropologist at heart AND MIND!

Interested in intersections.

Just arrived in NYC after 3 and a half years in Yemen and Afghanistan for work (not in the military). Before that, I was based back home in London.
What I’m doing with my life
Just started a graduate program in international affairs at Columbia. Before that, was working on apolitical stabilization initiatives. Beyond that, trying/failing to find a healthy work/life balance, exploring Sufism, having fun and hopefully extending a bit of kindness to those I encounter in life.
I’m really good at
Grabbing things with my toes. Increasingly good at actively listening, however also cognizant that this is a struggle some of the time and requires a lot more self-awareness than I currently possess.
The first things people usually notice about me
It will either be:
My teeth
The fact I bounce a bit when I walk

I am also incredibly enthusiastic when you get me on a topic I am passionate about! This generally stimulates mild fear or interest from most people I encounter.

I smile...a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Enjoyed various books authored by Nawal El Saadawi, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Hanif Kureishi, Milan Kundera, Khalil Gibran, Naguib Mahfouz, Ghassan Kanafani, Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Jane Austin, George Orwell and of course J. K. Rowling.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Anything and everything! I suspect I have mild ADD. My thoughts are either driven by questions related to immediate situations or large-scale philosophical issues.

Having said that, I am currently deciding whether I eat foul or porridge for breakfast.
On a typical Friday night I am
If your Friday is typical you really need to shake things up a little.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I often leave the country without telling anyone. This has caused several problems in the past. I am working on it.
You should message me if
You want to connect, are trying to understand the productive value of vulnerability and the power of kindness.
