Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A read a lot. Books, NYTimes articles, longform.org, 3quarksdaily, and so on. The most recent fiction I've read includes Middlesex, A Visit From the Goon Squad, A Farewell to Arms, The Picture of Dorian Gray, A Midsummer Night's Dream, This Side of Paradise, 1Q84, A Moveable Feast.

As for music, I listen to it a lot. When I get home the first thing I do I put on some music. I like a lot of different things. Lately I have been listening to stuff like Youth Lagoon, Real Estate, Deer Tick, Beach Fossils, Bryan John Appleby, Elizabeth Cotten, and John Fahey among others. I like to go to live shows... I like to catch good hip hop shows too, though it has been a while. The last one I went to was Pharohe Monch.

As for movies, I watch as many as I can whenever I am on an international flight when somehow anything seems interesting to me. The last movies I saw in the theater were Moonrise Kingdom, The Artist, and A Separation. I've recently discovered that the Cambridge Public Library has a solid movie collection, so been checking out a lot from there.

I love cooking and eating good food. My favorite cuisine is probably Indian, but I enjoy everything that is well made. Eating street food while traveling is fun. I like things spicy - I once had to sign a waiver at my local Burmese restaurant before eating a dish specially prepared for me and some friends.

I used to work on a food blog to keep track of different things I was cooking. You can see it here if you like:
