My self-summary
I know a lot about little and a little bit about everything. I am a connoisseur of many things, from film to food to art. I am very interested in pop culture, but not the water-cooler kind. I am both honest and a student of euphemism. I make myself laugh and will often share. I am kind, curious, adventurous, subversively irreverent, unusual, both dynamic and subtle. I am a compulsive complimenter, very passionate, and open-minded; even if it isn't my thing I can appreciate it. I am a masculine guy with some refinements (metrosexual not only doesn't quite fit, but is sooo 2003). My musical tastes are varied and particular; lots of electronic music, Bjork, Radiohead, Cibo Matto, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, etc, etc. When alone or -after time and trust- with company, I will sing in the car loudly and make no apologies.

I am unusual, intellectual, and hilarious
What I’m doing with my life
Loving my friends -- and still astounded and humbly grateful that they're in my life -- and all the Bay Area has to offer; conversing and expanding my social circle and intellect; learning how to stride the middle path. I've gone down the path of polyamory, a community of people open to sharing love and sensuality, and find it enriching and familiar. I have a primary partner, who is not poly, but understanding and open to my exploring friendship with a sensual component. I have no expectations of this site nor any connections I make; it is what it is, and I want to enjoy whatever comes my way. I am, being completely honest, not looking for more than friendship with a sexual component.
I’m really good at
Honest bullshitting. Being both analytical and sympathetic. Interpreting and fulfilling needs.
The first things people usually notice about me
Lately my charming collection of t-shirts... Other than that, my smile, my blue eyes (tee-hee), my expression -- sometimes aloof, sometimes warm and inviting. Oh, and the goatee's popular.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food: yes. Honestly, there used to be a list of three foods I don't like to eat... the only one remaining is Natto (stricken are durian and tripe - I will give them more chances), and even that I can tolerate (a friend once said "it tastes like beer," and with that thought I can convince myself). I am an absurdly adventurous eater, love to cook and create, love to experience new gustatory delights and libations. If I haven't had it, I'll want to try it.

Movies that are important to me: Zentropa, Buckaroo Banzai, The Neverending Story (potentially ruined by adulthood), City of Lost Children, Delicatessen, Willy Wonka (the Gene Wilder one, don't get me started), Johnny Dangerously, Pi, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, Pootie Tang, Waiting for Guffman, Time Bandits and Baron Munchausen, Casino Royale (David Niven and Woody Allen), Fight Club, Kids In The Hall: Brain Candy, The Dark Crystal, Contact, El Mariachi, Donnie Darko, District 9... Film is very important to me, in my blood even.

TV shows (I recently dropped cable and am relying on my AppleTV and Hulu... so far, not as crappy as I thought): No Reservations, 30 Rock, Top Gear (so pretty), The Daily Show & Colbert, 24, Chuck... you know, writng a (longer) list of these really makes me wonder how I get any work done or have a social life. I am an encyclopedia of Monty Python's TV episodes.

Books: honestly I don't read enough, though I come off as very literary... whatever that means nowadays. I love Mark Leyner, Palahniuk, Dostoevsky, Vonnegut, Allende, and Sedaris Sedaris Sedaris!

Music: I grew up in New York in the late 70's/early 80's; so The Cars, The Rolling Stones, Blondie and Kraftwerk are a part of my identity. My musical tastes are varied and particular... They Might Be Giants practically saved my life in middle/high school. I would have given my freedom to be a manservant to Bjork on her private island, if she weren't married to that asshole (who I know isn't as much of an asshole as he comes across). I'm newly loving Muse and Chromeo, and still loving Daft Punk, Cibo Matto, Aphex Twin, Del tha Funkee Homosapien (though I've never seen him live), Radiohead... a lot, let's leave it at that.
Six things I could never do without
Things well-crafted/meticulous/precious
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Thinking -- as in, techniques to calm my racing intellect. Sex. Culture. Food. Ecology. Women (which is separate from the sex-thing, but not entirely). Art (comes with the job). Logistics. People.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out for drinks with friends, hopefully meeting new people and potential friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Don't tempt me...
You should message me if
So I've found the below, and am just too lazy this Saturday morn to revise:
I'm looking to be friends first with a humble know-it-all with very few boundaries; someone with a mind as clever and naughty as mine. Someone who enjoys non-sequiturs and minutiae, but likes to talk about the grand concepts as well.
The two of us
