My self-summary
I'm a sleepy ex-academic who spends too much time sharing dumb internet jokes with my friends. Have returned the Oxfordshire area and looking to make new connections.
What I’m doing with my life
Just finished a PhD in Mathematics, currently looking at options for what to do next.

In terms of other projects, I'm learning piano (I play guitar before).

I started learning Japanese and would like to get back into that. I intend on visiting at some point, circumstances willing.
I’m really good at
Music: many a time I've just been playing random stuff on the guitar and people have gone "that's really nice what song is that".
The first things people usually notice about me
Either my facial hair or - when I don't have facial hair - my lack of facial hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

-Patlabor 2 (or Ghost in the shell).
I like them both for the same reasons; stella cinematography and art direction, great soundtracks, dreamy atmosphere. I like Patlabor 2 a little more as I think it feels a bit more grounded and a little less self indulgent.

Again, excellent cinematography and soundtrack. This one also has a bit of sentimental value to it as I saw it in the cinema with a friend at a turbulent time in my life and it a great experience.

- Encounters at the end of the world.
This makes my list almost entirely for this scene alone.

My Brother, my brother, and me.
The Mcelroys are the best thing to happen to media culture in a long time, or at least to me personally. Their brand of goofs and good vibes is infectious, in the good way.

- The dollop.
I like listening to people tell stories, and these stories are as varied and weird as they are informative. I like how they try to do stories from lesser heard voices from history (i.e LGBTQ, minority and native peoples, socialist/trade union).

- Jojo's Bizarre adventure.
- Nausicca of the valley of the wind.
- Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.
Six things I could never do without
My one cup of coffee in the mornings
Curse words that aren't (hecking) curse words.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
Playing tabletop rpg/board games with friends, playing video games, watching cheesy movies and riffing on them MST3K style.
The two of us
